Are you sure this bug is fixed? I recently ordered a "in stock item' and it is showing ship time will be the 28th of April.

Yes it is fixed.

We will be on hiatus April 14 - 22, no orders have been scheduled to ship during that time. We have Elbow Pads coming in around the 22-24, so there are a lot of orders stacked up there. We then have electronics coming in around May 1st, so there are a ton of orders stacked up on that date.

I wouldn't be surprised if the shop were giving out a date of mid May for in stock orders right now. The only reason it isn't, is because we are shipping as many packages as possible before our hiatus.

That date is accurate, but for most orders we do beat our estimated ship dates.

Yeah something is off. I placed orders on the 21st (checked after the hiatus and said shipping soon, changed to the 29th, now says may 8th) And my order from 26th now says May 14th ship date. Hopefully all these items are shipping sooner.

Things are shipping very quickly. I'm still shipping 2-3x more packages per day than the system is expecting me to ship.

The reason for such a large swing in ship dates is because we just got in a shipment of Elbow Pads and complete Electronics packages.

Orders are shipped in the order in which they are placed. If someone ordered an electronics kit in Jan that was expected to ship May 1st.. and then it comes in stock early, their order will be moved forward, and an order placed after theirs will be pushed back. When you have a lot of orders for those items, the push back can be a week or more.

Unfortunately it looks like Higgs order was at first on the early side of the Electronics wave, and is now on the later side of it. EJ, your order is delayed by a few days because there was a problem with one of your parts not being correctly stocked. (It is still scheduled to ship in the next day according to the order status page).

As with all orders I strive to break any given Estimated Ship Dates, and do quite regularly. But that being said, delays can happen and that's why the Estimated Ship date changes to keep you informed.

Thanks for the explanation on bumping ship dates, strange seeing all the changes but I can understand why now. Hopefully doesn't get bumped again.


My next question is if the system is that smart to move shipping dates around, can't it identify if I have multiple orders waiting to be shipped and combine them so I don't pay shipping twice? I know we can't go back and edit a previously placed order, but the system should identify if my older order has yet to ship and possibly combine them. Just a thought.

While I could do that. Any additions or changes to your order will delay your order, as would combining an order. If you place your order on the 1st with a ship date of the 5th, and then you place an order on the 4th and want those combined you'd have to wait until the 2nd order is due for shipping. This is something that would have to be done manually and would disrupt the flow of the system... and make shipping slower.

There is also the issue of what the additional items to be shipped would weigh. A lot of people assume that because a package is being shipped to a location that any additional items could be added to that order for free. I've had people seriously ask to have several pounds worth of items added to avoid having to pay shipping. The extra weight costs money. In many cases that additional money is equal to the separate shipping charge anyways.

The system also is smart enough when placing an order to determine the most efficient box packaging method. It will take into account dimensions, quantities, weights and box costs to give you the lowest pricing for those methods (for example Priority Mail Small Flat Rate box). Changing up / adding items would change that shipping method. Lets say you order 1 small item that can be fit inside a Small Flat Rate box. If I were to add a length of splitless loom tubing, it doesn't add much to the weight... but it does force an increase to the size of box and that changes the shipping cost.

Lastly. There becomes an issue when a user pays for their items in full using PayPal at the time of the order. If we are not authorized to bill a users PayPal / Credit Card account prior to shipment, we can't make any additional charges or changes.


This is such a complicated problem with fulfillment, which is why places like Amazon tend to just ship everything for free.

Since we're on the topic of multiple orders and shipping, I noticed a VERY small error. Status for one of my orders reads:
1 Package hipped
Next Package Estimated Ship Date: May 5, 2015

Small typo in Shipped. Don't know if that's automated and shows up like that for everyone or what.

Hm. I'm not seeing the typo on that page in the code.

Just to make sure, I did just upload the latest version of the file.

Please check it and let me know.

Also if you highlight it and or look at the source code, maybe you can see if the S is there.. I suppose it is possible there is something preventing it from displaying... like being cut off.
