Use the template posted under equipment by SG1 Star. That's what I used. First I measured out the parts on card board and then I traced the cut out card board pieces onto plywood. I bought a small scroll saw from Lowes. It wasn't too expensive. Because wood has deep grain lines that cannot be eradicated by sanding alone, I had to put a coat of grain filler onto the finished pieces. Then I sanded and re applied. Grain sealer is a pain in the ass. I suggest you use MDF because that will sand smooth. You won't need any grain filler on MDF.
Lowes has everything you need. The main thing is the scroll saw which costs between $150 and $250. You'll pay more for a trap on eBay. Then you need some wood glue and clamps. You need some small clamps, medium clamps, and some 90 degree angle clamps. You need some primer spray paint, some black spray paint, and some yellow spray paint. To paint on the stripes, I cut a pattern out of poster paper and sprayed it with spray adhesive -- follow the directions. Then I sprayed primer over the black and then yellow after the primer dried. I attached my doors with magnets.
Knobs you can get from Radio Shack or www.multimediamayhem.net. I put in a switch that turns a light on and off in the back, but that's the extent of my electronic know how. I got the holster from the above mentioned website. I very rarely see anyone selling an accurate trap on eBay. You know the old saying, "If you want it done right, do it yourself."
Wow, that is badass. Okay, slap me if we're not supposed to ask this. I know the ghost trap isn't for sale, it seems. Not sure if you would commission one, if the price was right. Or, if not that, if you had any tips for anyone who is new to prop building, that they may need to keep in mind, if they were to tackle on the task of making their own trap (like me).
