| | Here is my first attempt at assembling a Proton Pack. I emphasize "assembling", because the majority of the components, not to mention the shell itself, were purchased from sellers who actually fabricated the parts. The shell itself is a very nice one from eBay seller "loveusmokey", or Midwest Prop Shop. They make very well-formed, detailed, cool shells. MultiMedia Mayhem was also a great source for components. Colin does really nice work. Stickers were purchased via eBay from Charles Wallace Design. They are very nice as well; really good reproductions with a nice metallic sheen to them. There are a few improvised parts on it, as well. The Clippard Valve is a medicine bottle painted black with a cymbal stand washer glued on top and the Clippard sticker affixed. The faux power cell lights are self-adhesive rubber "feet" for the bottoms of TVs, stereos, etc. placed in a column over a reflective metallic tape. The blue power light in the later pics is an Airsoft gun tactical light glued onto the shell. The reflective tape under the "power cell lights" catches the light nicely, making a reasonably good simulation of the power cell lights (without the fluxing, of course). I also used some round "rubber feet" to simulate a power light on the top of the pack, ala' The Real Ghostbusters. The black cylinder next to the booster (with the blue hose coming out of it) is also a medicine bottle painted black with a makeshift nozzle for the tube. The red cyclotron lenses are made from a red translucent Mead folder, a technique gbrob (formerly Shockwave) showed me. No, it's not %100 screen accurate, but I think it's a decent effort for a first-timer. However, let me stress again that the only reason it looks as good as it does is because of the quality parts from Midwest Prop Shop, MultiMedia Mayhem, and the question-answering patience of gbrob from here on the forums. The Neutrona Wand was molded and cast by GbRob, also. |
