| | I successfully finished my 2 Proton Packs for Halloween 2008. I would like to say that I assembled these as apposed to built them. I ain't no woodworker/metalworker. If it hadn't been for the great people in this online community, it would still be a few wires and a dream over a few cans of Guinness. Thanks to all - you know who you are.
It's been 18 months of pure joy (and hunting on ebay) and I am really pleased with the results. I would say that the packs are about 90% screen accurate which is about as close as I could get. My brother and I geared up, and walked to a fancy dress party at my local pub.. People were really impressed! I couldn't have asked for more feedback from my hardwork. I want to thank everyone from this wonderful online community that made this project - and childhood dream - happen. All the best to you all. Bustin' really does make you feel good!!! |
I used several coats of spray grey primer (ordinary car spray paint primer) sanded down in between coats. Then I used a matt black car spray paint, lightly sanded down to build up the layers. The smell of the spray paint is bad, but it wears off after a day or two! I then lightly sanded corners to revel the grey primer to get the weathering look. Im looking into some sort of matt spray varnish or sealer but I haven't got that far yet. Apparently I need to go to specialist model shop, like Games Workshop..
