STANDARD_911's Proton Pack

STANDARD_911

Male
Las Vegas, NV
UPDATE: I had speakers installed but once i took them out i realized they sucked. So for $35 i picked up a pair of flat panel speakers from radio shack and these things are loud! For their size i mean. You can hear the gb tunes way better now, they are worth the buy and fit RIGHT INTO the back. Plus, the have a retracable cord so it doesn't get in the way when transporting the packs!

Its done! I stood back and couldn't believe I had two packs! The new one has two speakers mounted at the bottom of the alice frame so I can just plug in the cd player and blast my favorite gb tunes or whatever. Its really cool...plus the guns have start up sounds and firing sounds. The gun for the new pack lights up inside.

The best part is the laser tag! thats right...the uniforms have the chest vest on the belt and the guns have the laser inside them that shoots out the barrel. So you turn on the guns and fire away! the best laser tag ever....of course i don't play with them but its interesting to have it.

This is my second proton pack under the offical name of version 2.0. I decided early on that I was going to get the spacer and upper module pre-fabbed because of the quality I saw in Scott's work and that I knew already I could build a pack from scratch so I wanted to focus on making this one look good.

A lot of the pieces are made from PVC piping or styrene plastic from the signs or otherwise that I acquired. The bumper this time is made out of carpet threshold (the new thing for bumpers). The gun boxes are being constructed from plastic and the grips...well thats to Norm I'm using his fuel injector method. The gun boxes feature removable bottom for easy access to the electronics. The N-filter I made out of 2" pvc pipe and man did it take a long time to get that thing to fit and tons of pipe thrown away. thank god for dremels...

This pack will feature lights but as an upgrade from the first pack all of the switches will be located on the gun. and YES I am building two guns to replace that skimppy RGB gun on the first pack. The pack will feature the same lights in the powercell but will include rotating lights in the cyclo and electronics in the gun (start up and gun fire, thanks to my old star wars laser tag guns...boy that start up on those is real close to the pack sounds) the gun for the other pack will also include the start up and fire but you won't be able to turn the lights on from the gun on that pack. too bad white leds are almost 5 bucks a piece so I just decided to go with what I had so the powercell lights will be red like the old pack too.....

The booster frame is made out of some wood strips I picked up at home depot and is held in by 2 alan screws that look really nice (thanks to the reference page for the idea straight from the real packs). The ion arm is constructed from plastic as well and looks much better than the first one.
