"One of the traditions that grew up around the various franchisees was the tradition of assembling one's own pack. While most locations just starting out bought their first batch of equipment pre-made and configured directly from the parent company, the unassembled kits rapidly became popular due to their considerable price difference. Over time, veteran 'busters came to prefer building their own in any case, and in many places one was still considered a 'rookie' until they had assembled, calibrated, and successfully tested their own proton pack." --excerpt from "Who You Gonna Call? Fifty Years of Paranormal Investigations and Eliminations" by A.E.J. Eliot, Columbia University Press Nicknamed "Code Red", this specimen was used in the Kansas City area in the mid 2010s. The most striking feature, apart from the color scheme, is of course the fact that the apparatus has been heavily modified for left-handed use. Not only have the wand controls been flipped around, but the power box has been moved to accommodate use of a left-sided bracer block. Double piping through the system negates the need for injection tubes, allowing a direct cable feed to the cyclotron. The "mushroom" style n-filter allows proper venting under adverse environmental conditions. (OOC notes: this is my first proton pack build ever, and I'm amazed I managed to get the thing done, let alone in time for Hallowe'en. It's a gbfans mobo on an ALICE 2 frame with a Studio Creations shell, and everything else is from just about everywhere except the HGA and gun assembly which are from KCGhostbuster. Big thanks to him and everyone else who answered all my newbie questions while putting this together. Still to do: - Sound f/x card - a few more stickers/decals - replace the trigger box I broke while prepping it - install the rest of the lights once I get hold of bulbs and solve a few technical issues ) --justkelly (talk)
