you can cut it easily with a jigsaw and a can of wd40... And you might be able to order a piece the size you need from onlinemetals.com

That's how I make mine, but I moved the spring inside the handle and the latch to the front so the tube doesn't take space inside the box. The whole front handle can be removed without taking apart the system.

I use flat black, the cheapest you can find. Wipe parts with acetone just before spraying, no primer.
Once it's all dry, take a soft towel and buff the powder finish off the paint and it will look fantastic.

You have to know if you're looking at pipe or tube. That's the difference, pipe measurements are id and tube measurements are of
Also, you could, if they fit together, use a section of the PVC inside the metal tube to fill the gap.

I made mine in the same process of stretching them on a board. I coated the board with packing tape and applied a very light coat of silicone spray as a release agent. If you print that mirrored, an polish it nice and flat, you can use it as a stamp. Dab it on white paint and dab onto your part...
