I've used Moldmax 30 and Smoothcast 300 for years.

Your main problem with foamcore is going to be the edges. You'll have to fill and sand and fill and sand and fill and sand a ton to get them smooth. If you plan on molding the nicer your master is the less work you have to put in on each shell you pull later.

That's a lot of work! I find it interesting that most RGB packs I've seen are built larger than what they are in the cartoons. The problem with the cartoon is 90% of the time the animators didn't give a crap and it only got worse as the series went on. The packs often looked small in the cartoon be...

There are no meters readily available that are the right size. If you want a working meter your best option is to cut one down so the electronics fit and then redo the graphics.

As pretty as everything is stuck on to this thing it was time to cut more holes so I stripped it all back down again. The bargraph and spinny lights display windows were cut out and lined with styrene lens holders. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/jackdoud/Ghostbusters/GBTVG/th_20160831_20053...

Another year, another modest update for this build. I finally broke this thing out of temporary storage and worked on the thrower some more. My quest to reduce the weight as much as possible continues and I cut out as much superfluous resin as possible. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/jackdo...

I've had a similar one for years, it's way too heavy for a casual costume and the general public doesn't know it has anything to do with the movie. It's one of those things that's technically rare but only because no one cares. It comes down to "do what makes you happy".

Two things:
The frames were sanded/tightened down so the back was rounded a bit and sits more flush to the tube.

All the packs are 30+ years old and aren't well cared for. Parts sag due to heat and age.

It all comes down to what version of a pack you want to do, actual or idealized.

A lot of the TVG props were based partially off of fan builds used as reference and I think this is one of the times that it shows through. The goggles look like a modified version of welding goggles.

A GB2 trap is currently in fan possession and has been for some time. The better trap plans on this site are based off of information collected from it.
