It might be worth getting the ppd several inches longer than needed, if you're going to be cutting it with a machine. The small size can make it difficult to get the 45 angle cut right, unless you want to do it by hand.

What would be the most proper socket/cord for the board?

I went with 1/16 aircraft cable for the reinforcing cable, as it looked to be the right size. I think the hole in the handle for the cable is 1/8. If anybody thinks that's off, please let me know.

Did all of the movie pedal bases have the cap bolt on them?

I just used a jeweler's saw and a vice to cut the vector plate's outer ridges off. It worked fine for me. The blade fit right in the channel and it was a pretty clean cut.
