Very tidy work. I've been contemplating what would be involved in turning my largely MDF pack into a buck but I'm put off the idea of buying all the supplies to do a glass-fibre shell. I am getting a bit browned off by the sheer weight of the MDF though and I'm not convinced I can lighten it any mor...

Nice electronics design too. Looking forward to seeing how you deal with the thrower lights. :)

This may be a daft question, (sorry to hijack your thread mate) but how robust are resin wands? The only times I have ever dealt with resin was fine detail aftermarket parts for plastic aircraft kits, and it was always very brittle. You could sneaze and it would shatter! I'd like to think that bigg...

Hope nobody minds a bit of thread necromancy but this might be useful to someone. The following arduino code is an updated version of the code I posted in the thread above. It replaces the delays in the code with 'time slicing' which decreases the lag between power-on/firing/cool-down. Note that som...

Kingpin: If you don't mind, would you release the plans with the measurements in mm? Many of us aren't tied to imperial units.

The problem with amateur 3D printers is that there is a handful of things that they make really well and, consequently, there's an expectation that they can make pretty much anything to the same quality. I'm increasingly seeing them as a great idea for a group of enthusiastic people to tinker with r...

A RepRap is great in theory but it will take a crazy amount of optimisation to get a print resolution that you'd be happy with. I wouldn't go into this aiming to use an untested tool to create something you might need within a fixed time-frame. You might be better asking around local maker labs to s...

In my pack heavy objects are bolted onto the mobo (12mm MDF), PCB's are stuck down with double-sided foam pads for later maintenance. Never had an issue with the despite lots of travel.

Other people mount brackets on the mobo's or bolt everything down - probably best for long-term usage.

You're going to be putting a lot of work into the theorycraft of fabricating a mount on the actual ALICE Frame. For 'quick release', I'd use something like a trap holster that simply has the gun hooked onto it, although that would necessitate removing the S-Hook. This is a pretty decent idea. The v...
