Click the link in my signature for PDFs for GB1 and GB2 gizmos that you can print and stick to a backer of your choice (I like styrene 'For Sale' signs glued up as many layers thick as you need with a protective clear coat over the top) as well as templates for the holsters (again in GB1 and GB2 ver...

No liquid dye that you can use at home is ever going to give you black, even if it's meant for nylon. Honestly, spray paint them. If you can find it, get a can of black vinyl dye at an auto parts store. If not, just use regular black spray paint and give each strap multiple, very thin coats. (Seriou...

Black dye is the way to go for belts. I've never been a fan of the Pearl Grey that everyone seems to love, especially when you get such a great shade of cool grey from a quick bath in black--and you use less dye, too. As an experiment years ago when I was dying multiple grey belts, I actually left s...

I recently added a Creality Ender 3 to my 3D printer collection when it went on sale for $175 and, coupled with cheap no-name $10 filament from Amazon (and a TON of tweaking), have been turning out prints on it that rival an Ultimaker. Still not necessarily cheap, but it's definitely possible now to...

Sorry for the thread necro, but I'd just like to add that I've dyed tons of stuff in top-loading, front-loading, and stacked washers and never ruined one. If you use my method, there's a post-dye washing and color-setting process that should handle removal of dye residue. If you're concerned, run an...

If I'm not mistaken just using remover alone will yield a reddish color because black dye is a mix of blue and red. That's why most people use a combo of black and navy dye since Charcoal gray is on the purple side. Yes, that's the issue. "Black" dye isn't just black; it's a combination o...

I believe they mentioned in the original DVD commentary for Ghostbusters that they used food starch from a Chinese food wholesaler, which is just food-grade methylcellulose, so this definitely fits with previous information. You can also get non-staining food colorings to use with the starch; Steve ...

This is a little something I did while I was sitting around still a bit in shock after hearing the news. Of all the commemorations, something on a pack just seems the most appropriate for Kemp. I thought someone else might like to have it as well.

If you start with a khaki suit, you will always have khaki stitching. Same goes for navy or black. Black stitching looks the most accurate to me, so I opted to start with a black suit.

It's great that the LED alternative is known and so much cheaper, though. Hopefully that will more than satiate those who can't afford the real deal, and keep the suppliers of the real thing from being bombarded wit time-wasting inquiries.
