Not only are vintage nixie-tube calculators both rare and expensive (such as on eBay), the electronics in them changed on an almost weekly basis back in the early 1970s. I'm guessing that they keep the leg hoses stored in the Ecto-1 with the rest of their equipment. It's apparent in both films that the actors have no idea what the hoses are for and probably consider them to be a nuisance.
