Walter Peck, authority figure one would expect to be benign at least and perhaps even helpful at most, wound up being a sub-villain that got the coming of Gozer rolling.

Makes me wonder -- will we learn that the cult gets their people into positions of authority (a federal agency and law enforcement, in respective examples) explicitly in an effort to aid summonings or thwart threats?

Of course, if the town symbol is any indication, the whole town might be rotten from top to bottom. The temple and stairs are hard to miss, but curious that every other icon is triangular or pyramid-shaped.

Only reason this doesn't make sense is

that Jason said at Fan Fest: "You (the crowd) don't know what their (the family's) connection to the original movie is, and they don't know yet either." To me, that includes Carrie Coon. If the family doesn't know, that would seem to rule out Egon being their dad. They'd know who their dad was. Mom would know who her husband was. Personally, I found that quote a relief because I think family members are kind of a lazy link, but we'll see.
