That's the kind of thing I mean. I don't mean something in your face. Perhaps his photo on a fridge. No zoom in or anything. Just there. Almost like how the twins last name was used for Vigo's. It's so subtle it's almost not there.
That would be kind of neat, actually. Make it an Easter Egg sort of thing.

Speaking of shoehorns, does anyone remember the time Max Landis posted his own idea for GB3? He wanted it to feature a slimer origin story.

I tweeted him. He was... not polite.

So yes let’s not have Oscar. Or Walter. Or Shandor for the third time. or Stay Puft yet again. Something nice and fresh please.

The villain in this film will be the cleaning lady they almost toasted at the Sedgewick bent on revenge.

In all seriousness, I hope JK Simmons appears in this film. I'd love to see him in a dry comedic or even villainous role in the new Ghostbusters film. He'd steal the show.

He's funny in Spider-man, and he's excellent in Counterpart. He was phenomenal at playing two different versions of the same character, brilliantly examining the full spectrum of one individual's personality as a study in extremes. He'd be amazing in a duplicitous role.

Speaking of which... kind of wonder now if he has a role in this film and that's why we haven't heard him agitating more for a third season of Counterpart. Perhaps he's been busy.

Rudd could be Oscar. Maybe Dana and Peter gave him up for adoption to avoid another paranormal incident and then the plan back fires on them.
Paul Rudd must have at least five years on me and I was 11 when Ghostbusters 2 came out! It’d be slightly odd casting!

Before this continues let's keep in mind people here also like the movie and we have no interest in seeing another anti ATC circle jerk.

Why is everyone so against Oscar? I mean he was only the focus of the second film..it only makes sense to have some type of role in the next installment for some type of continuity...i mean its not like a easy thing for Dana to forget..”oh yea, one time my infant son almost became a modern day Vlad the Impaler..but 30 years have passed i almost forgot.”

@BatDan, yep that was more along the lines of thinking and logic I had in regards to Oscar. The character was instrumental to the plot of the entire second film and while it would certainly be easy to write him out in a single line, I was just contemplating what people's thoughts were on how the character might factor into what we know of the GB20 plot.

I am expecting them to sweep him under the rug, but it would still be cool for the character to have some sort of involvement, if nothing else for there to be a more solid connection to GBII.

The reality is that for everything we think we know from what we have seen, it is incredibly exciting that we actually know very little about the film. I am just relieved that so far everything looks and feels like the first two films while building upon the mythology and world building. That's how you make an effective sequel.

I really wanna move away from Dana, it was odd the 2nd time around with her being involved in another world ending supernatural plot but for a 3rd time? No spanx. And if they do it a 3rd time I suspect they'll go down the whole "prophecy foretold!" Over-done shpeel.

Let her and Oscar have some peace dammit.

Rudd might be an odd casting. Again this is Hollywood where a twenty something can get away with playing a high school student. Real life age won't factor.

You can have Oscar without Dana being the focal point of the film. Keeping one of the Ghostbusters near by to keep an eye on him in secret is a good way to bring Bill in. Hell, all we know is Bill's, involvement could be pictures of him and Dana in an old album sitting on Rays coffee table.

He had only a minor injury, he was seen golfing with a bandage on a hand.

And this is a Scottish tournament, so he's far away from the set :D

By the way, I was looking for the GB20 theory that was posted on Reddit, does some of you guys still have the link? (the Winston being CEO, the other busters blaming Ray for Egon death...)

Since it was announced a couple of weeks ago, I think the introduction was an already done thing. Maybe at the time they unearthed the alternate takes.

The original Reddit post has been deleted unfortunately. It is copied and pasted in this thread but many many pages back, if I have a second I can go back and find it and PM it to you :)

Someone asked for the Reddit post. I'm the person that posted it originally, so it was easy for me to find in my history.
Thank you so much for relaying what he sent you!
No problem. After my PM showed that he had seen my question to him, and I didn't receive a response for a while, I told him he was full of crap. That prompted him to defend himself with this long response of various plot points. I don't see how anyone that is a serious writer could have written something that contained that many spelling and typographical errors. I also don't see why anyone from Hollywood would reach out to an unknown writer in the UK for feedback.

Frankly, this post from Reddit, which predates most of the behind the scenes photos that emerged on the internet, seems more probable:

The Ghostbusters have gone nationwide, and they've successfully become a government sanctioned public service (like in the video game), so they've branched off to different cities. Think of the Ghostbusters as Orkin pest control, and Winston is the CEO. Egon has been presumed dead for a few years because of a botched experiment. Ray has been ousted as he was involved with the experiment that killed their brightest mind, and the shareholders were pissed about it. Venkman has his own talk show (but still a member of the board).

Meanwhile, McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon's characters move to a piece of property that was owned by Egon after Coon's character's divorce. It is revealed that they are Egon's daughter and grandchildren. They poke around the property and find a rusted out Ecto-1, some old, rusted proton packs and ghost traps. The PKE meter still works. The teacher at the local Middle School (Paul Rudd) is a science geek and McKenna Grace brings the PKE meter in for show and tell. The device goes haywire when she fires it up. Nobody really believes that there is a problem. After all the device is really old. Grace believes something troubling is afoot.

Janine, who is now the VP of Ghostbusters, brings a binder full of troubling reports from all the franchises across the country to Winston attention. The containment units are reaching maximum capacity, and the band-aid of building bigger ones is becoming too costly, and requiring too much power to maintain. They have to reconcile with Ray to help them. Ray recalls this problem being of concern back when the Ghostbusters first started out and briefly addressed just before their battle with Gozer. He tells Janine that Egon was on the verge of solving this problem before the accident and his disappearance.

Ray visits Egon's countryside property to see if he can find Egon's notes. Grace and Wolfhard tell him about the PKE meter. They go through the old tech, etc. and find the notes. Egon was working on opening a portal to the ghost dimension. This was Egon's solution to emptying out the containment units (as seen in the RGB series) and having a more permanent solution to disposing of ghosts. Rudd catches wind of Ray being in town and makes a visit to the Spengler home. They work together to discover that Egon had mostly figured out how to open up a portal by utilizing the technology from the temple on the Shandor building from GB1. Since the original temple was blown up, Egon had to do some research taking him to a sleepy town in Oklahoma where Shandor's followers used to mine for materials to construct the original temple. Egon was successful in constructing his own portal, but managed to get pulled into it. This portal was not fully closed and has been slowly opening back up.

Later that night, weird stuff starts happening around the farm. Ray, not having any gear with him, runs out to the barn and starts tinkering with an old proton pack. He eventually gets it fired up, only to realize that the paranormal activity is Egon's ghost haunting the place, trying to issue them a warning that something big is coming their way and gives Ray, Grace and Wolfhard some cryptic message about how to complete his work.

Weird things start to happen across the town. The Ecto-1 and the equipment is modified so that it is easier for them to chase down smaller ghosts. This is a prelude to something bigger arriving. Ray and Winston manage to round up Venkman to assist them against the "big bad." Dana comes along for the ride because "Why should the boys have all of the fun?" Rudd, and Coons' characters join in as well. As they final battle ensues, McKenna Grace's character finally figures out what Egon was trying to tell them. She and Wolfhard's character do something to officially close the portal.

I love this thread, but I've avoided reading any of these possible plot/script leaks. That's where I'm drawing the line so that I can still be surprised on as much as possible just in case these leaks have any truth to them.

Yeah it was but was worried if he had filming left to do he might be delayed in when he can film.

But I am glad he's ok.

Well the tournaments only a couple days, then (maybe if venkman is it) he flies back to Canada to continue filming?

I mean, Dan had time to take off to promote Halloween Nights and do the Joe rogan show, its no different if Bill had some other commitments too.

I'm skeptical about the "leaked synopsis" as some of it's plot points don't seem to stand up against what we've seen leak from the various set shoots.

1)
The Ghostbusters have gone nationwide, and they've successfully become a government sanctioned public service (like in the video game), so they've branched off to different cities. Think of the Ghostbusters as Orkin pest control, and Winston is the CEO.
The state of Ecto-1 wouldn't suggest the company is nationwide, or flourising. True, it's not 100% proof the company has foundered, but I don't believe Ecto-1 would be languishing in a barn were the company were riding on top of things. As for Winston, if the photo tweeted by Jason is an indication, it may be he's established his own post-Ghostbusters company, featuring a stylised "Z" as the logo.

Although material that's come out of the filming at the farmhouse has been much more limited than the various towns across Canada, nothing we've seen so far suggests Carrie Coon's family are moving into the farmhouse, or own the property. There's a greater indication from what we have seen that they're moving into a nondescript apartment complex in Summerville.

I can buy some of the gear being modded, I'm not so convinced about Ecto-1, as it looks like it's had the blaster seat for quite some time, based on the extent of rust.

While it's not impossible it could be a legitimate summary, I don't buy the person being involved in the production in any way. I will say though, is their claimed plot sounds a lot better than the "frequency one".
