Hello! Saw this build on the RPF and commented there, thought I'd chime in here as well.

I had never known there were variants on the PH-25 until discussing this over on the RPF last night, now I'd love to source a no-disc one for my pack.

Love the look of that 'Clippard' yellow hose as well. Can't wait to see this one finished.

I've given you a fair amount of grief in my posts so now I will be real....

Your pack is looking awesome. I love the bigi shell, and aluminum parts always seem to stand out even when painted. This will be a very pretty pack once finished.

....ok, but I did notice clip lite covers on the thrower instead of arcolectric lights...

Thanks Alex! That stupid little yellow hose has caused me so much impatience, because all I wanted was to see it on my pack. Hahaha. Thank you once again for the kind words!

Ray, thank you so much! I've always tried to take extra pictures and be a little more descriptive in my writings in hopes that maybe my build would help others. There's been so many great builds on this site that has helped me that one of the only wishes for doing my builds is to just share that love for this and hope I contributed something to the community.

Joe I always hope your posts stay real because that's what's going to make me a better builder and notice these things. I had no clue there was different clip lights! If you don't mind me asking, what's the specific ones I need?

No TJ, no plan on altering this shell. IMHO it's perfect, the craftsmanship and attention to detail was the reason I happily waited for this puppy. I don't have the knowledge or experience to start altering shells so this guy is staying just like it is. I barely got the courage to add the wood grain texture and divets into the powercell window. LOL

You need 1 clear one of these and 1 red one. Little part but they make a huge difference in the thrower in my opinion.

Damn of course there in the store lol. Im an idiot haha. I always wandered about them and just never paid much attention, stupid me. How do you install them?? Are you popping the caps off or wiring them into an existing light kit?

First off, if you are "pooping" while building that is your own deal ;-)

Second, You grab the wires and pull them and the bulbs out of the housing. It takes a little bit of a tug and a twist, but all you need is the housing.

I meant on the thrower.

For the arcoelectrics, some are more tenuous than others, depending on how tightly the bottom was swaged around the bulb. pull the wire jacket out of the socket first, and it'll buy you some room, then steadily pull the bulb out. If you just tug it, chances are you'll break off the leads and have to crack the bulb. The other solution is to pop the lens off the body, and try to pull the lamp out that way.

I've had numeroud Arcolectrics and they usually just slide out with a tug.

I didnt even notice the clip-lites until Joe pointed out, I suppose I've been too wrapped up in the beauty of this build.

I love watching these types of builds. I'm going to be sorry when you finish it.

I didn't even know there was a difference. I've been learning something new everyday during this build and am soaking it up. Thanks for the kind words abaka!

Thank you for the kind words! These comments make me impatient to keep working! I've used so many build threads to help build mine that I hope my build would help others too!

Hahahaha will do. Tomorrow is my last day at work and leaves me all weekend to work on the pack. I'm starting to freak out because the wiring is coming up and I have no idea what I'm doing lol

Pack porn you want? Pack porn you get! LoL

Big update:

The shell is pretty much finished now. All the tubing is now attached and I got most of the labels added.

But let's not get ahead, I first took my old ph-25 off and replaced it with one without the disc on top. I didn't know I had one and going through my old parts from my first build I came across it! Absolutely stoked about it. I also twisted it 90 degress to try and match some of the screen shots I researched.

Image

I then got the ribbon cable attached. I made the rainbow colors face out as seen on Dan's pack in the Sedgwick scene.

Image

I tried to match the twist on Dan's pack as best as possible using the screen shots found in the reference section. Here she is before labels. I love the look of the bare shell before labels go on.

Now here is a good amount of pictures of my shell. Hopefully these pictures will be a good reference for others on current and future builds.

Enjoy!

The crank gen, bumper, hga and rear booster tube labels are all joe Luna metal labels and I absolutely, without a doubt feel in love with them. If you have not picked them up, and get a chance too, DO IT! Buy multiples incase they go away cause they are flawless!
I'm unhappy with my nfilter label. Have no idea how to fix it. The color and size seem off to me but u may be wrong. I also need to add the dry rub to it but that will be another night. I also started to really become disappointed with the weathering on my ion cap but I epoxied it to the ion arm because of mounting issues. I may just tape everything off around it and repaint just the cap and try to figure out how to weather it better. I'm currently in the process of painting my mobo and will be starting back on my thrower come saturday. Like always, all comments are welcome! Hope these pictures will help another builder one day!

Looks amazing!! :crunch: I certainly will be referring to this thread for my upcoming build. Its been really helpful. Don't know if it would help but in relation to weathering for the ion arm cap, what you could do is when you paint it, get a small flat headed screwdriver and gently rub at the paint you want to get rid of until parts come off. Instant paint chipping in the places you want it.

lol! prob best to do the masking tape and brush approach, its probably ok to just paint over it since its already got paint over it and the surface is roughed up. MInd you, it looks pretty good the way it is!

Nice! Just a suggestion, but I would lose the larger zips ties you have now and downgrade to the thinner size and then add one on each side of the clamp, about an inch or two out. You can see what I mean on the Spengler.

Thanks ender! I really appreciate it!

Little update:

Fixed the zip ties on the ribbon cable.

Image

I then drilled a hole on the mobo to run wires through to my Makita power bracket. I then added a rubber grommet to make sure the wires stay protected against the aluminum.

Image

Image

Image

I then got my powercell bracket riveted on and powercell lights attached.

Last but not least I added the mobo padding and danger sticker. Should I leave the sticker centered and covering the vent holes for the speaker or orient it away?
