It may be on here, and I apologize if it is, but I couldn't find it. Can you use a standard 9v battery with just the light kit? It says in FAQ that one can't be used with the soundboard, but I'm planning on just using the light kit. Sorry again if it has already been answered, but I couldn't find it.

I'm using 12V to drive all of my lights and sound, so 9V should be enough for all your lights.
The Powercell works fine with just 3V. Why not just hook it all up and check, before you attach it all to the shell / motherboard?

I use a 9v to test my lights and it works great. You can run the pack lights with a standard 9v with no problems
