My 5 year old is Ghostbusters OBSESSED (justifiably). About 2 months ago, I saw him repurpose another toy backpack/playset and a dowel rod into his own proton pack and thrower. We talked some about proton packs, and I offered to help him make his own. We live close to Skycraft Surplus in Winter Park/Orlando, and we made a trip down there one Saturday to find some good parts and random crap. I also purchased a USB charging pack and some USB LED strings, as well as some 90% discounted switches from the last remaining Radio Shack store in Orlando. I'm trying to do this with as much prefab componentry and as little soldering as possible, hence the USB connectors.

The one thing I'm not finding is something to approximate the Power Cell meter on the GB1 packs. Would a car alarm LED scanner work with 5V input?

Thanks all!
