Spirit pack mod questions

Let me start at the beginning here...

So I'm a life long GB fan (like everyone else here I'm sure). I have a suit (original), and my wife has the dark grey GB2 suit. I built a pack out of an old kenner pack (put it on an Alice frame, did some more things to fill it out). I also built my wife a pack using the old kenner projection gun as the wand, with just house hold items for the actual pack, and attached it to an Alice frame. Both of these packs were, ok, for their time (it was 10 plus years ago when I made them).

Anyways... fast forward to now. We have a 3 year old son that LOVES GB. We watch the Real GB on REPEAT thanks to Netflix, and he even likes the 2 films. We got him a bunch of the Playmobile toys for Christmas (he LOVES the Ecto 1 and firehouse). Since he loves it SO much, I gave him my old kenner pack, trap, pke meter, etc. But that leaves me without a proton pack now. Between the new movie in the works, and my sons love for GB, that's not ok, lol.

That's what brings me to my questions, cause I want to build my wife and myself proper packs now. Given the price and everything (we already have Alice packs, etc), we are going to go the spirit route.

I want to do the FULL deal... Ghostlab, lights, everything. I have been watching and reading these threads, so I know Spongeface is working on this right now. But has anyone successfully put the ghostlab and all the lights and sounds (that you can buy here) in a spirit pack yet? Including in the wand? I really want the wand to light up and everything. I'm even thinking about getting a new acrylic tubing for it (to make it look bigger).

So I just wanted to start this thread for a place to ask my general questions. Which those are my first ones. I plan on starting this project as soon as we get our tax returns (month or so). I know the wand lights Spngeface is working on might not be done yet. That's why I'm really curious if anyone has put the full size ones in the spirit wand yet. If so, any pics/videos?

To get accurate lights or sounds you would have to completely gut all the electronics. I would recommend getting SpongeFace's lighting kit which works like a charm. Also depending on if you wanted to just keep and modify the original spirit thrower, which if you are, I'd recommend just waiting for Spongeface's spirit thrower kit and at that point I'd just also wait for him to make the sound board for the spirit pack as well which should all work together very well.

But since the thrower and the pack are around 80% of the size of the packs seen in the movie. Most people complain that the thrower feels too small in their hands. What I'm going to do and what I reccomend is that you make your own full sized thrower. You can find neat resin kits for the thrower on multiple sites and even on the GBfans store, a couple of sellers not on the GBfans store who have an amazing reputation would be BenofKent or KarnivorusCreations. If you are thinking about making a full sized thrower to go with the pack I'll refer you to pick up a lovely thrower electronic kit from our own GBfans store. That can connect to an amplified sound board which can also be picked up from the GBfans store. I believe from the sound board you can connect to Spongeface's light upgrade and be all set for sounds and electronics as long as you also pick up a 12 amp speaker and 12v battery which are also from the store.

To answer your question I've heard that the thrower electronic kit on the GBfans store is too big and/or really difficult to fit into the regular spirit wand. You'd be better off building a full sized one and just using Spongeface's lighting kit, the GBfans amplified sound board and thrower kit. Which should, if I'm correct, all connect together correctly.

Also if I didn't mention has both the cyclotron and the power cell lights in it the kit and has awesome instructions to follow as well, you can find this kit on Ebay under the seller name SpongeFaceMcgee or also from the 'For Sale' sub-forum you could find his post for this item under the name SpongeFace.

I agree with everything green panda said, I've done everything I can think of to my spirit pack and it looks great but the thrower is just too small for the gbfans thrower kit. Even adding my own switches and whatnot wasnt easy and I cant add all the ones you need. I would wait and see what spongeface can come up with, his work is professional and hassle free.

I saw a video on YouTube where they kept the spirit wand, but put a longer acrylic tube on the end, which makes it look and feel bigger. So I'm kinda leaning that way at the moment, as far as the thrower goes. Sure, I would LOVE to have a bigger thrower, but since I'm doing 2 packs at once, cost is an issue.

As for the sounds, couldn't the ghostlab just be put where the stock sounds are (removing the stock ones obviously)? I'm ok waiting for the spirit thrower lights to be finished, but I'm not sure why the ghostlab isnt a good option for the sounds, even if that means replacing the speaker.

Any thoughts?

I cant seem to find the thrower kit in the GBfans shop. Is it no longer available?

Look up BenofKent on either Etsy or Ebay but make sure the worldwide filter is selected when finding him on Ebay if you don't already live in the UK.
As for Karnivoruscreations just a quick Google search should bring up his online shop you can buy from.

As for the GBfans store you can only find certain resin or aluminum parts there but not all you would need. If you want an aluminum thrower then you can take a look at the 'For Sale' category on the forum to find some sellers of those

Also to answer you or previous question, currently ghostlab only offers specialized spirit pack kits for the LIGHTS only. He's currently coming out with a LIGHTS and switch kit for the thrower that connects to the power cell light board of the spirit light kit. Maybe you could connect the amplified sound board from the GBfans shop to the spirit light kit but I'm not entirely sure that would work. It sounds like it should but I'm not sure, that's a Spongeface question. If it did then just connect a speaker and a 12v battery and you're in business.
If you want quick and easy installation I'd wait for the spirit sound board. But if you want to work at it maybe go the amp. sound board route.

Benofkent does an 84% scaled 3D printed thrower kit that should fit Spongeface's normal wand kit. I've got both the wand and the kit, just not built them yet, but I believe another user on here did that successfully. The Spirit wand is apparently more like 60% scale, so it looks pretty small and I'd defo recommend getting a bigger one if you can.

I asked this:
I saw your video and I was wondering if this kit would work if you built your own thrower at either 80% or full? I'm still deciding on which one to go and it would be cool if you made it possible to switch out the smaller bezels and switches for full sized ones if we wanted to pair a full sized thrower with the spirit pack. If I go the 80% route I saw that Benofkent is highly recommended for this but I also saw people saying that his, somewhere around 83%, kits were better because they provided more room to place electronics into.

Spongeface replied this:
The two toggle switches and bar graph are located on the printed circuit board and were spaced to fit the Spirit Wand. Moving the switches or bar graph and changing the size of the bar graph would require a new circuit board. Still working on getting this Spirit specific kit finished, so no plans currently for a different sized kit.

The Spirit Pack Lights kit is compatible with the GBFans sound board which works with the GBFans wand lights kit, so a full size wand can be accommodated.
