Hey everyone,

I had a quick question about the possibility of flying with a proton pack as checked baggage on a plane. I live in Alaska and I plan to make it down to Dragoncon this year for the PKE surge. HOWEVER, as you can imagine, I have to fly there, pack and all. I've been trying to figure out the logistics of this and potential problems, also I was curious if any of you have flown with your pack. I've considered shipping it, but the cost from Alaska could be so ridiculous I don't know how feasible it could be.

I actually flew with mine as checked luggage when I moved to the US back in 2009. I just packed it up in a large cardboard box, with a crap load or padding and protection, made sure all the batteries were taken out, and she was good to go.

When arriving I was stopped by a customs agent who inquired, and at first looked a little alarmed (having labels all over saying DANGER! High Voltage! probably doesn't help...) but they quickly just waved me on through.

Wasn't cheap though if I recall correctly. But made it in one piece!
