Discuss all things Ghostbusters here, unless they would be better suited in one of the few forums below.

So I had this strange idea and I thought I would get people's input on the idea. To my knowledge, the Ghostbusters never fought a reaper before. So the idea poses some questions. First is: Is it a plausible idea? From what we know of "Reaper Lore", they DO operate both in our world and the spirit world, as they guide souls to the afterlife. That said, would they be considered spirits in this case? How powerful would they be? And would the Ghostbusting equipment have any effect on them? Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this so post comments below and let's talk.

In a franchise where a group of men titled GHOSTbusters have battled interdemensional beings and demons, you're asking about the Grim Reaper??? Yeah I'd say it's possible. Whether their weapons would have an effects, it's iffy.

Ah man you are missing out on an interesting story in the IDW comics. Starting in Volume 1 issues 8 - 15 it is revealed that a college friend of Egon's was able to capture a Reaper in an ordinary back pack. Egon's friend was somehow able to do this because he was close to death after being hit by a car. I know it sounds weird, but that is how it panned out so I don't think it is out of the question that the Ghostbusters Equipment would be able to capture Death. What was revealed in the story though was that there are major consequences for capturing the reaper. With no reaper to escort the souls to the afterlife the ghosts just stay in this plane and start terrorizing people. Also without the Ghosts to act as insulation in the space time continuum the fabric of all reality could unfold. At least that is how it was depicted. :):):)
