Its an orange flannel shirt. Probably was sold in the hunting department of some store back in 1983.

Thank you mburkit. Anyone else have any more good information on this? If our community can figure out the proper color sequence to the ribbon cable on proton packs we can come up with information on something as simple as this.

I know this is an old thread but I recently bought the LL bean red flannel off eBay and had patches down onto the elbows. It’s great for when your driving to or from the event and don’t want to stand out at a coffee shop with just a flight suit on. Which is kinda why I think Peter wears it to walk around outside.
I truly think the shirt is red and not orange. Look at the balloons behind him. There are red and orange ones together. Anyway, it’s open to interpretation just like the khaki vs gray flight suit conversations...
