I cobbled together from hardware and spare parts this:
Ghostbusters PKE Meter by WF&DT, on Flickr
The hull is two spliced-together electrical boxes from Home Depot. The handle is from an old Parks Saber I gutted years ago (never throw any greeblies away). The screen is an old camera viewfinder. Inside are a ghost trap sequencer and a phaser setting graph from Jupiter Electronics. The knobs are a battery terminal cleaning brush, some plumbing parts and a bottlecap. On the top is a proton gun acrylic tube with a chemical lightstick inside (red here; going to use a bright green one for Hween).
A short video of its operation is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkV7qAFDUxg
