A different kind of "proton" pack

This is a little project I started a couple of weeks ago. The idea came to me, like many, while i was in the bathroom. But unlike other people, I was shaving when this happened and was thinking out loud to myself. I don't remember what the exact train of thought was but I ended up wondering what a Ghostbusters Proton Pack would look like being powered by the Zero Point Module of the Stargate universe.

This is just the first look at the ZPM powered Proton Pack. A lot has been done since then. I'll add another update soon.

Power Source: Zero Point Module.
How it works: A Z.P.M.(Zed P.M. for you Canadians) derives its enormous power from vacuum energy, derived from a self-contained region of subspace time, and has a potential life of many millions of years.

I will be updating this on DA soon as I've already posted the first photo there, already.

Update coming Monday, August 24th.

Dr. Venkman says: Be there, or be square.

Dr. Spengler says: :sigh: ...

Is that . . . did you put the Z.P.M. right in the middle of the cyclotron? I wonder if that would cause some interference. Then again, this isn't my project, and I couldn't begin to tell you how particle acceleration works.

Yea. Its not in the middle of a cyclotron. The ZPM is taking the place of the cyclotron as the power source. The only reason I haven't updated is because I'm putting details on the pack, still and I added some new parts to the pack design.

Not gonna lie, that looks pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Thanks dude. I'll probably update tomorrow.

I'd maybe consider keeping the cyclotron. There has to be something there to accelerate those particles.

It looks like there's still a functioning cyclotron on there, anyway, even though he said otherwise...

Anyway, looks nifty

Yeah while it looks different and interesting I'm not sure how you can have a proton accelerator without the part that accelerates the protons.
Does look kinda neat though

That is true. Can't accelerate protons and neutrons without the accelerator. I initially had that there for the design, to keep it familiar, but since I completely forgot about that I'll just say that there is one and it goes around the ZPM power source.

Pack update: Added a few things, subtracted a few others. As you'll notice, I got rid of the "tape wire" to make it look more industrial instead if makeshift, like the original packs. I also widened the pack as well and put everything on the right side of the pack over, but not far enough so I'll correct that tonight. I also added some details to the pack as well. The details are on the top of the N-Filter, the tube where the gun attaches to the pack, the panel for the control crystals (its in the center of the pack), and the side of the pack as well. I also changed the style of the readouts on the little screen above where the wire to the gun attaches to the pack.

But the biggest addition I've added to this pack is the pump lever. For anyone who watches any of the Stargate shows, the species a.k.a. The Ancients, that created the ZPM although highly advanced also had push buttons and levers on their advanced devices as well. So the idea behind this pump lever, on the side of the pack, is to eject the ZPM from the pack itself. One pump to eject the brace that holds the ZPM in, the second pump pushes the ZPM out of the pack half way so it can be removed.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! A proton pack powered by a zpm....MAN!!! You could hold Stay Puft and Vigo at the same time with that thing I mean think of all the power it would have!!! now you just need a trap powered by a zpm. Although if you really think about it the piece of equipment that would benefit most from one would be the containment unit.

Oh come on theres always room for jelo. :angryvigo:

LOL Thats a definite good idea. It makes sense the ECU would be powered by one. And if the trap were to be powered by the ZPM it'd have to be hooked up to the pack and would have to be opened by remote control. :) I'll design a trap once the pack and "wand" are done.

For some strange reason the pack design reminds me of the movie Tron, I'd Buy That For A Dollar!

Lol. Thanks.

I've updated the pack a bit. But nothing too major. Just a few designs to the sides and the side views. I'll update that some time today.

Again, thanks for the comments guys. This project is far from dead.

wow, that is pretty cool and unique :)

Now comes the fun part, actually building a prop version!!
