Has anyone ever cut through an MT500 antenna to make a homemade stubby???

I was thinking of trying to get a clean cut through and the using plasti-dip to make a new end cap.

Just wanted to see if anyone has ever tried this before?

Yes but I will warn that the Plasti-Dip is not as resilient as the original rubber coating...

I cut mine down no problem, and reused the original tip
Piece of cake, the tip came off pretty easy
