Another teaser for the Mass Hysteria! arc, starting in February, has been posted. Sorta obvious, but glad to see this is definitely an all hands on deck situation and we'll see two people alluded to in #9 back in the fold.
https://twitter.com/IDWPublishing/statu ... 6761190401

And Tristan Jones teases he has exploited some loophole for his next subscription cover (so he far, he's done the #13 subscription cover).

What is this subscription? I'm confused. I haven't been able to get a hold of any of the 'incentive covers' of Tristan's work from my local comic book store.

The subscription cover variant? The story goes, if you have a standing order for the Ghostbusters comic at your local comic book shop, they can order this variant for you. Otherwise, you can't get it. Well, other than it popping up on eBay. The first subscription cover was in Volume 2 Issue #1, the one with Janine at Peter's desk surrounded by photos of various characters.

Finally got my copy of #8, did we ever learn the cause of the printing delay?

Hmm...so were the RGB and EGB covers from the first series subscription covers? Are the incentive covers the same thing as the subscription covers? I didn't know you could get a standing order for a comic.

Also, wasn't there a recent Real Ghostbusters cover with the crew reading a Tobin's Spirit Guide? Couldn't find that at my comic shop either.

No, the RGB and EGB covers beforehand were incentive covers. Not the same thing as subscription covers. Incentive covers just depend on the amount ordered by the LCS. If they order 10 Regular Covers/Cover A's, then they get 1 incentive/RI cover. It's usually that 1:10 ratio. The subscription cover is not dependent on how many issues the LCS orders, the incentive covers are. I guess it depends from store to store, but mine has a pull list/standing order so whenever one releases, he pulls one aside for me.

The RGB crew reading Tobin's from Issue #8 was an incentive cover. If your store didn't have it, it's likely they didn't order enough copies of the regular cover.

Not a printing delay. A delay at customs. Then Diamond decided to push #9 back another month to November.

February 2014 solicits are out and Issue #13, Part 1 of Mass Hysteria! is coming
Lucky issue 13 is here, and with it, the first installment of the eight-part event that will shake the boys and girls in grey to their core! Gozer the Gozerian, the Destructor, was once drawn to Manhattan, but could not complete his work. That's the good news. The bad news is that he isn't the only god who has taken notice of Earth... MASS HYSTERIA and our 30th anniversary tribute to the Ghostbusters begins here!
• 32 pages • $3.99

First issue of the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary 8-issue maxi-event! “MASS HYSTERIA!”

Event will feature fan-favorite characters from 30 years of GB lore, including the two classic movies, the action-packed video games, and the smash-hit IDW comic book series!

Dogs and cats…living together?! “MASS HYSTERIA” is here!

Variant Cover by Ryan Lee, featuring The Ghostbusters, The New Ghostbusters and the Rookie

Subscription Variant - For subscription customers only… enlist up at your local comic shop! A variant cover from Tristan Jones, featuring the Real Ghostbusters in ghost-busting action!
Also, Erik Burnham is teasing the 'there may be a return of an accountant' in the Mass Hysteria! arc. Could it be, they lifted the restriction (or made a one time exception because it's the 30th anniversary) on Louis Tully?!

And if so, can even Erik Burnham make it worth the effort?

Yeah, obviously Louis is nowhere near the top of my "They need to bring him/her/it back!" list.

The rest of it sounds very promising, though.

I don't blame you. I'm not much of a fan of Louis either. Not since GB2 anyways (for obvious reasons).

I agree with this sentiment, Kingpin. Erik's got the characters down pat. Louis should be a wal..panic induced chase through the park.

He wasn't high on my list either, but Erik's pretty much hooked me with the recurring references to Louis and I'm interested to learn more about him and his departure from New York.

Someone on my list was Dr. Selwyn. With the added knowledge of Tiamat being the big bad, I think she could easily be a well of help the Ghostbusters need on defeating it. She is a Sumerian and Gozerian expert after all. But now that it's been revealed a whole bunch of characters will be appearing, definitely more hyped for this arc.

I forgot to mention this but coming in March/April 2014 is a hardcover deluxe edition called Ghostbusters: Total Containment, collecting all 16 issues of Volume 1. Pre-order up on Amazon.

The subscription covers are supposed to be but maybe it's harder overseas?

Some more cool stuff

1) Erik Burnham wants to use an IDWverse version of Sandman in 2015 if the series keeps on going.

2) Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn will appear in the Issue #12 back up.

3) Here's some of Erik Evensen's test art for Ilyssa

My Comic Guy has indicated it should be possible to get the Real Ghostbusters cover for me. I'd been working off my mistaken impression that he likely wouldn't be ordering enough issues to get the Subscription variant.

EDIT 11/21: Erik Burnham is interviewed and teases Mass Hysteria! plus two covers for Issue #14 and the #11 back up are previewed. The latter confirms a character's appearance at last.

I picked up my copies today. Got the regular cover and the blank ( what's with that?) cover. They either forgot to order/ didn't order/ or wasn't shipped the 3rd gozer cover. They wouldn't give me a straight answer.

The idea behind the blank cover concept is you can take a copy to a con and have your favorite artist do a sketch on it for you. They did this with Ghostbusters: Infestation and I think this is the first time on the ongoing series. I haven't seen the RI cover (Gozer) pop up online yet either. Probably just because of Thanksgiving prep.

Ah, that makes sense. I thought maybe it was a DIY cover.

Did the gozer covers not hit the stores then? Maybe there is still hope for me. My store has a pull list with anything GB for comics and all the variant covers. They're pretty good at emailing each week if anything has come in and is put aside.

Does your store usually order enough to get the Retailer Incentive covers?

I say just watch places like ebay the next couple days. It should turn up. That's what I'll be doing.

The RI covers are usually 1 for every 10 orders.
