Twinkie: I didn't even know it was open on Friday, I thought it ray Tuesday to Thursday (a fellow U.K. Ghostbuster and I were told Thursday was the final day).

A shame that you weren't able to see it :(, would've been cool to have met another fan. :)

Hey Kingpin, that's correct, that was Thursday (I posted just after midnight). Did you see it? Do you have any more pics? I'm playing hunt the pack :)

bradboss12 wrote:Why am I not surprised you are all over this? Great sourcing fellows! That pack looks HEAVY! All that copper pipe? But it is probably really sturdy. Don't know if I'll take that on, looks really pricey. Unlike a "traditional" proton pack, which is mostly black forms that can by fiberglass, wood, plastic, etc. this pack is very WYSIWYG. Didn't the German GB's already build one???
I just finished mine. DO NOT paint the copper pipes before fitting them together. They are already tough to put together but with a couple coats of rustoleum on them it was a nightmare. I had to do so much guess and check too that I was constantly taking apart, cutting, and reassembling.

Following one of the Reboot Packs showing up in London, I've got a bit of info on the specific gauge used on at least one of the Proton Pack props.

(Note: I hadn't realised the make of the boot, and by proxy the gauge had already been identified, some of the information on the image has already been posted in this topic.)

Much like the gauge on the Proton Pack at San Diego, the dial cover of the Olympia Pack was pretty weathered, but unlike it's American cousin the one in London had the majority of the weathering at the edge, and less towards the centre.

When looking at the actual prop I was able to read (as the photos also show) that the gauge reached about "50" at the mid point, and I could make out the "SH" of the Ashcroft logo with the naked eye - I wouldn't be able to read the "CROFT" until I got home and reviewed my digital photos.

Image

Once I got the photos off my camera (and consulted photos taken by my fellow ghostheads at the event), I was able to determine that the gauge is rated from 0/100 PSI, and is from an arm of the company which is based in Brazil, rather than the United States. I did my best to clear up the label on the back (I wish I'd noticed it when I was at the display), but I wasn't able to completely clear up if the serial number was "T437", "1497", or some variation of the two.

I was also able to determine that unlike some of the 0/100 gauges, this one only appeared to have four increment notches between each of the numbers.

I was also able to rule out models that had different arrangements of the screws, the mounting point and of the location of "PSI". From this I was able to produce a digital recreation of the likely gauge (using some reference from existing Ashcroft gauges to fill the blanks) - my apologies for the omission of the PSI text:

Image

Which likely looks like one of these in real life, minus the boot:

Image

The closest matche I've found so far is:

ASHCROFT 20W1005PH 02L 100# 0/100 - 2" diam.

Comparing the markings on the Olympia Pack with the gauge on the Prototype Pack, it looks like the two feature different scales.

Kingpin that's GREAT! Actual near physical contact!

It'll be 1437.

That type of label used on:
Ashcroft ABS Case Gauges With PowerFlex™ Movement: Models 1005P/1007P
Ashcroft 23DDG ABS Case Gauges: Model 23DDG

This is a 4 digit date code
• First 2 digits are the year of manufacture (taking the last 2 digits of the year. EX: 15 would be 2015)
• Second 2 digits are the week of manufacture

So made in week September 8, 2014 - September 14, 2014
At Willy Instrumentos de Medição e Controle Ltda. An Ashcroft Inc. Company 09520-000 São Caetano Do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil

From here:

Still not sure if its 2" or 2.5". Hard to gauge... ;)

Ok this makes me annoyed, It had been my first impression that the packs had been dumb down to make the toy versions cheaper and the wire frame renders in that video tell me I am right.

What about the circular black rings in the center of the Synchrotron? Most specifically the outer most circle... probably 3d printed, but trying to find something off the shelf for it

i know someone makes a metal MOBO for these packs at $120-130 but are there any other ideas? i really dont want to go that expensive... i suppose the main issue is the bend at the bottom, i cant just get a thin sheet of plywood and bend it like that.
unless i got a smaller cut and a few 90 degree brackets.....

You could always do acrylic, heated and bent to shape. If JoeLuna doesn't come through on these soon, that's likely to be my plan.

There is quite a bit of misinformation in this thread, dating back to last summer. It's no one's fault, really, but it needs to be updated... I am going to try to make this as helpful as I can, as I have only been on this since last week, and I think there are several people out there that could benefit from what little information I have already uncovered.

Plus I have a million and a half questions every five minutes and I don't want to be a taker without giving a bit back.

First of all the Hammond Boxes listed at the beginning of this thread are not accurate. I wouldn't be able to comment on which ones WOULD work, but I know specifically the Hammond 1550A is NOT the right box. I will have to do more research on the Hammond parts before I comment on them more. Ideally I would like to find a place where I can look at several boxes and make an assessment for myself. The 1550Q might work for the box with the red and blue knobs on them. Again, not sure until I have my hands on the knobs, and see how the rest of the pack is shaping up.

Spongeface is using the Hammond 1590N1 for the upper left box that has the copper pipe going into it, below the number display. You can find one of those here:

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Ham ... YWaw%3D%3D

Note: The 3/4" claim on the copper pipe on the thrower is wrong. It is 1/2" pipe and elbows.

At any rate, here are some links that I have found for several parts... Again, hope this helps some folks. (Some of these are repeats... Just trying to keep all the links we've found in one place if at all possible... Consolidation, and all that...)

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here. Not trying to offend anyone, or under cut anyone, I am just trying to help out in my own way. Like I said, I know I am a bit of a pest when it comes to asking questions, and I am just trying to give back a bit. Not to mention the fact that I have myself already ordered a few parts that were wrong and I'd like to save anyone else the trouble of having to go through returns, etc. If I have any information wrong PLEASE let me know and I will edit this post immediately. I will also be adding to it as I find out more information with the hopes of having all of my information in one place for easy reference. These are the lowest prices I could find on these items, but there might be lower prices out there. If you know of any lower prices let me know and I will replace the link. Thank you all for your patience, and your help on my personal build thus far. Can't wait to keep moving forward.

thats a interesting idea, i have a local plastics store (tap plastics) i wonder if i can get something from them, how thick though? 1/8?
also a question about the size while looking at the image, how long is the mobo before the bends are made? 16-ish?

I was thinking the MOBO is around 25" prebend... but then again I hate math, haha.

I'm using dibond foe my mobo. Sturdy as heck, but light weight compared to some of the other options.

i meant to say 26 not 16 :P

closest suppler of di bond is several hours away, i will probably go with the acrylic sheet

i am thinking about using a acrylic sheet like was mentioned eariler, just concerned about the thickness and how brittle it might be
off the tap plastics website they i found acrylic sheets at multiple thicknesses, suppose if i am worried about strength i could just get 1/4, i imagine that would be plenty strong
