Rational people don't care that it's an all-female cast.

People who do care should be openly mocked and then ignored.

This movie seems to have other, bigger problems.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. The first trailer was poorly edited but the international and Kevin trailers showed some decent material.

The fact it's an all female cast does rattle a lot of people, even in this forum.
People see it as a gimmick, in a negative political way.
Look at the negative remarks in the thread about the Genderswap.

I don't care.

Why should I give them even the slightest bit of attention short of mocking them for how ridiculous they are?

I find it ridiculous personally. Why can't it be simply that these Ghostbusters happen to be female? Paul Feig has stated numerous times that the funniest people he knows just happen to be women.

I don't mind it being a female cast either, jus stating what some people on the other side thinks. I'm really looking forward to the movie in a 'what if' kinda way.
It's a mixed bag though, people have a lot of reasons to dislike the flick. A lot of it is just conjecture or pitchforking, but I can understand why the facts it's a reboot can make people dislike it. The hate however, I cannot. This movie will not replace the others. Heck, the orginal is even back in the cinemas!

Feigs credits doing nothing for woman: look at Wiig and McCarthy. He helped them to stardom, and now gives Jones and McKinnon a chance to shine. You might not like their humor, but bridesmaids has exactly one food poisening scene, and I did not hear anyone about the hits 'Something about Mary' or 'dumb and dumber' who went much further with gross humor.
Sure he thrust them into stardom...through lowest common denominator movies. Remember what I said, people like bad movies. Shia Labeouf was thrust into stardom because of Transformers. Is that film any better than Bridemaids? No.

The issue I have with that line (if it's real, I wouldn't put it past them for it to be real) is that it's derogatory. Telling women of any age that at the end of the day they maybe a bitch but should be the best bitch they can be is like calling them a ho or arsehole but the best ho or arsehole they can be. Any person in their right mind would slap someone for calling them that. If Leslie Jones thinks it's okay her to call other people bitch then she needs some serious help in socialising.

Again, it sounds more like a "take back the word" kind of sentiment, which is different.

And some people do socialize by using harsher slang. And they are no less social than you are. It's just different.

Ignore, yes. Mock them? However with regards to mocking them, we should refrain from that.
pferreira1983 wrote:Is that film any better than Bridemaids? No.
For all it's faults (and the faults of the subsequent sequels), the first Transformers film is without a doubt miles better than Bridesmaids.

Nah, it isn't proper English and it's rude. If I go into work and tell a colleague to be the best bitch she can be I could probably get fired or if I'm lucky reported to the manager. Quite rightly to!

Well, heh, it's America, and it's New York City. We don't speak proper English and we are often rude. ;)

While I have you here, can I ask a totally random question? Not to do with the gender debate, just curious. How does the Statue of Liberty scene in Ghostbusters II come across in other countries?

This is why i'm partly against the reboot. I consider myself fifty/fifty on the new film.

It's not allowing people to have an opinion that someone else doesn't agree with. It's this one sidedness of labeling any male fan who has something negative to say about this film is either a sexist or a hater or whatever ism or ist people want to throw at someone. People cant argue with facts they resort to name calling.

I do like how this author lists all the negative comments made by men, and fails to bring up a lot of the hateful blogs that have been written by women before men had opinions about this movie. The author refers to men posting on the you tube video as haters, agrieved and meninists. (Whatever the hell that means.)

I figured they'd give these kinds of articles a rest until after the movie was out. Doesn't look like well be so lucky.

Well of course it's going to attack the sexist angle. I doubt any would would care if the headline was "Ghostbusters trailer draws criticism for changing the equipment designs or being a being a reboot or because people aren't fans of the leads or the director, yadda, yadda yadda," The sexism angle is what draws attention. It's brilliant on Sony's part. the movie fails, sexism, the movie wins, suck it misogynists. I mean it still doesn't guarantee a good product. But they can use sexism as an excuse to 86 the franchise if it doesn't do well.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were. There's been nothing about reshoots I thought the film was in the can more or less. I mean its not out of the realm of possibility considering Suicide Squad did but I really think his article is bogus and trying to draw traffic to their site.
#4862520
If that is accurate do you think the reshoots have anything to do with redoing green screen scenes to place in better special effects, or if I might throw this theory out there having the original GB's in different universe scenes along with their cameos in this film?
With 500,000 plus dislikes from the U Tube trailer there has to be some serious damage control going on right now. We might not get the passing of the torch story we want but if they are reshooting to put in the original GB's im all for a delay.
#4862521
There are lots of reasons why movies go in for reshoots. It could be something as simple as getting new takes on scenes that are already being filmed, extra bits of dialogue, a scene to smooth out transitions between other scenes, etc. Also, it could be something drastic, something that they got a lot of feedback on during test screenings and are modifying accordingly.

Let's not forget that the idea of a multiverse has been talked about openly this week by Feig and that's not something we have heard before. Could be foundations of a connected universe. Really, it could be anything.

I believe that's unlikely, if the special effects are wonky, they should still have the raw footage of the cast that they can simply lay some new special effects work on top of. Short of the footage being accidentally erased, the delivery being really bad, or something in the shot going really bad and they didn't notice it at the time, they wouldn't need to re-film the live action part of a special effects shot if the post-production effects themselves weren't up to standard.

Not impossible, but I'm still not convinced we'll see Murray, Aykroyd, Hudson and co playing anyone other than their cameo characters.

Reshoots confirmed. Only a scheduled day and a half with the four Gbettes.
They can reshoot the entire film if they start at 7am and stop filming at 10pm with no extra takes, right? Right?

Know what other major, summer, pop culture movies had major reshoots, just within the past two years, that turned out REALLY bad?

Ninja Turtles 2014 and Fant4stic. One of those movies bombed AMAZINGLY.

Yeah, most movies have reshoots. Most movies do not have reshoots 2 months from release and turn out GOOD.
