IDW tweeted a pre-order ad for Annual 2017. I noticed in the lower right, the regular cover is a different version than what we saw in solicits. Instead of the ghost pirate under Winston, it's Melanie Ortiz and "Haunted American Horrors!"
https://twitter.com/IDWPublishing/statu ... 1841338368

So perhaps, there's a Haunted America case about the pirates but with more art done by Howell?

EDIT 12/12: Erik says it's a Haunted America story by Howell.

November 2016 sales are in and GBI #11 did 4967 in sales. #10 did 5313 and #9 did 5652 in October. :(

Annual 2017 pushed to January 25.

But the bigger news, March solicits are out and a new title from Erik, Dan, and co. (not known if it's Volume 4 or a mini)
Ghostbusters 101 #1
March 22, 2017
"Let's Do The Space-Warp Again!" Before they began investigating the supernatural, most of the original Ghostbusters were teachers... and they've decided it's time they start sharing their knowledge again. But when their first batch of students start poking around the firehouse and accidentally set in motion the merging of two universes (it's easier than you'd think) Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, and Spengler will need all the help they can get to put things right! And who do you think will Answer The Call? (If you guessed Holtzmann, Yates, Tolan, and Gilbert... you get a gold star!) It's a brand new inter-dimensional meeting of the minds, starting here!

That's awesome! Can't wait to see what the IDW crew comes up with for this (I forsee Holtzmann hitting on Janine for some reason)

Now, excuse my ignorance, but who's the fella in the green sweater on the cover of the first issue? It doesn't look like how Dan draws Winston... if I had to guess by the hair style and a quick google search, it's Roland from the Extreme Ghostbusters!!!!

Yep, looks like the remaining EGB's will be in alongside the Answer The Call team. I'm so excited for this, as IDW is basically my canon now! So happy to see the new team legitimised in the universe of the original. Thanks Erik!

Can't wait for this comic book. I love the idea of the 1985 and 2016 Ghostbusters meeting. I hope one of the 2016 Ghostbusters comment on how Peter Venkman looks like Martin Heiss.
robbritton wrote:Not "*that* Roland", anyway!
It could be that this Roland is the Roland from the 2016 Ghostbusters universe.

"Poking around" sounds like something Eduardo would do. This series could translate to a good movie if done right.

@ *referring to bold*

I doubt it; Roland never originated from the GB2016 universe; that's EGB.

My guess is that this version of Roland is IDW Rollie that's probably based on his EGB counterpart similar to how IDW Ky and IDW Eddie are based on their EGB counterparts.

We won't know the answers until the comics come out next year.

Yeah, based on that it seems Erik scripted this new character with whatever name and Dan wanted to draw Roland so voila. We've seen this happen before in the comics, i.e. the cop in Annual 2015. So I don't think he was originally meant to be the IDW Roland like Kylie and Eduardo.

Indeed. With a little bit of quality character development, they will become worthy additions to the GB lore.

Patty's gonna freak out big time. I imagine she'll slip up a few times and call him "Uncle" by accident. And if Holtzy shows Peter a pic of Dr Gorin, he'll have a moment of reminiscence. Abby might think that Janine resembles Vanessa the hotel receptionist in more than attitude. Erin might call Ray "cabbie" and look at Dr Spengler as if he were the ghost of Columbia University past. All the girls will scream when they see "Dr Heiss" young and alive LOL.

Out of OGBs, I think Winston is the most uh un-aged and recognizable by the 2016 team. I'm not sure if they'd remember a bust, hotel clerk or a cab driver. Heiss, maybe, but Murray in 2016 looks pretty different from 90s Murray. Gorin pic coming up doesn't seem organic. Eh, but what do I know. I mean they got 6 issues to tell this story and at least 18 characters. Hopefully, they have room for gags like this. But like Get Real, they'd didn't much time with that. I mean, I don't even think they bothered saying their Containment Unit looks the same. Or the Janines.

Going back to Patty and Winston. Dunno. Might be a neat bit if the Zeddemore family tree has a Tolan somewhere. We are talking parallel dimensions.

I guess when it comes to parallel universe cross over stories, which I'm that much a fan of to begin with, I don't care for dwelling on characters pointing at everyone and everything listing the differences, y'know. With a medium like a comic or show, we the audience are smart enough to see them ourselves. And a gag is funny once or twice, but you can't keep using it over and over.

I think the cover up conspiracy could be a story too. Where the Mayor and the OGBs are covering up for something. But then the OGBs would have to been in the reboot world or something. Of course there would be problems, with this, like Winston having a niece or Egon being dead, among others.
Man, there are so much what ifs that's popping up in my head, when this news broke. They should start a second series to tell some stories of the reboot GBs.

12/27: Tom Waltz revealed 2 things last Thursday.
1. There will be another hardcover like Total Containment and Mass Hysteria (so presumably at least International).
2. The TMNT/Ghostbusters hardcover will have new extras.

12/29: Tim Lattie put up a WIP teaser. Looks to be his 101 #3 cover. Has at least Janine and Abby on it.

Amazon has what appears to be the final version of the Annual 2017 regular cover

Erik Evensen posted 4 colored unlettered pages from the Annual 2017 on his website. The story might be titled "Second City Ghostbusters".

Be advised the first page does spoil some of what the Chicago Ghostbusters' headquarters looks like. The other 3 are of their bust at The Trask.

Funny. Since the Trask is a stand in for the Drake, they appear to be doing a take on the Drake's infamous "Woman in Red" ghost, but instead "Woman in Blue." lol.

Not for another long agonizing week. The good news is it was bumped back up a week from the 25th.
