Did you not read my response?

"I wouldn't say that film is a good example of comedy, neither are although Jump Street was aimed at an older audience. Anyway the TV series was miles better."
I did, and it's OK that you think that. Liking that style of comedy just is not not relevant for the topic at hand, why one short dickshot without is sexist and the other long drawn out one is not, which is why I did not respond to it.

To clarify I don't condone any movies like that. I don't think they're good movie if they mainly rely on that type of humour. It's not a good example even if the film did well.

Alphagaia wrote:Yeah, you made your view perfectly clear the first time. It's just not relevant to the question I proposed.
What I said is relevant. What I mean is that it's in poor taste. The problem is audiences get a kick out of that type of lowest common denominator humour that it's become default in Hollywood movies so to answer your question it's allowed regardless of gender. The Home Alone movies had that type of humour but those films were mainly targeting adolescents plus the first two anyway were written by someone who understands what a good script is.

I don't agree on that point. 21 Jump Street makes dick jokes for a cheap laugh however the Ghostbusters reboot while doing that for that reason also tries to have it's cake and eat it by belittling men. After all that's what a feminist movie most of the time does.

It's comedy. Someone has to be belittled, lol. And it's hardly the first time in the history of the planet that the joke has been on men. It's not the jokes that have changed, it's the audience. You guys are basically using a form of political correctness against the movie, dictating which protected group can't be made fun of.

Never knew a feminist movie would contain a female mass murderer as an enemy, 4 socially akward females, who also can't find doors, think soup and salad is the thing worth living for, fail to fit in with society and work with the male mayor to get the stuff they need to grow their business. It looks like the movie satires females as well.
How progressive!

This really should be obvious.

Yeah, that's a nice trailer! It has it's own thread by the way. You can find it here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=42828
Ofcourse there are still people against the idea, but we see GhostCorps creating a multiverse with the Ghostbusters 101 comics, where the OGB and GB:ATC meet each other.
This at least tells us GB cares for both franchises and want to bring us together! Not something everyone wants ofcourse, but it does show they want to continue both storylines, and not ditch the old.

I'm with you here :) I was greatly disappointed by a reboot.....but I never thought that the original Ghostbusters were going to fade away.
It's a little sad to think that we could have lost our last chance to see Ray, Peter and Winston in live action.
#4889126
The Reddit board barely discusses even the original movies anymore, yet they have plenty of time to worship freakin Piers Morgan, lol. They're furious when their own franchise wins a People's Choice, and even more furious when it DOESN'T win Razzies. Not realizing that these things affect the entire franchise in a good way, not just the reboot. Maybe the studios are out of touch with the audience, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. ;)

Well, the people against the movie need a space to vent as well.
If we can all do that without stepping on each other toes that would be great.

But on topic, I actually believe GhostCorps is still trying to please both groups by creating more content for both sides, sometimes working together, to show the old is never intended to be forgotten.

Thing is they chased away everyone else in the process.

There are fans who simply refuse to be pleased. But hopefully there's more of the other kind. I think there is?

I'm sorry to say that makes you an extreme feminist now.

No take backsies.
Well I'm not sure about salad, but come to think of it, some people do live for their soup.

Can we please stop with the feminist stuff? I want to gouge my eyes out everytime I read that word. Feminism is a postive thing. Bringing it up in a negative connotation is ridiculous. I hated the reboot but I hate reading about fans hating the reboot because of feminism or some vast feminist vagina conspiracy even more! It's gotten to the point where I don't even read a post past the word "feminist". Let's move on. It's been talked to death.

So, the ATC team will be, from March forward, an official Ghostbusters Parallel Dimension. Welcome aboard!!!

From the look of the first panels shared by Tom Waltz seems like the Gbettes will travel from their 2016 to our late nineties (or the Ghostbusters will travel to a parallel 2016).

So, let's assume that another live action is in the cards, will this crossover be referenced? Will it be both Gb3 and ATC2?

All positives here:
...right?
Isn't she just darling?
Is this your view of negative feminism?
An image where a women confronts Trump for his 'grab 'm by the pussy' statement by saying she will defend herself?
With a LOVE trumps HATE sign in the background?

I mean, sure, you can always find bad eggs and people taking this to extremes, but to condemn the whole idea of Feminism because of this picture feels very closeminded.

The real question is: would we like it to be referenced? Even slightly?

You know...the Ghostbusters trains the new team and they see an old photo of the two teams together.

Young Gb: who are them?
Ray: "oh, just a crew of Ghostbusters from an alternate dimension we encountered years ago. Nice gals!"
Young Gb: *bewildered look*

Eh, it's no weirder than your average Interdimensional Rift on Star Trek.

You're right, she's just another goon ruining it for everyone.
Mostly, I have a beef with that particular actress. So much wrong there. #NotmySupergirl

It's just too much fun to poke at the hypocrisy when celebrities get involved!

Anyway, back to topic...

That's why much of Feminism gets the negative spot light. I'm kind of disappointed that Supergirl is getting involved in politics it's one of my favorite shows.

So far there hasn't been any tweets in support of the women's march in DC today from Paul. Looks like he just wants to support his brand of femnism! He did however have time to tweet about the last march, and is now preaching about the constitution. Trump is doing the same thing Obama did, didn't hear him complain about it then. :sigh:

She's presumably doing it in her free time, and she's not wearing either the Supergirl costume, or anything with the super "S" on it, that's hardly the show or the character "getting involved in politics", it's an actress standing up for what she believes in.

And to that point, if you're more uncomfortable about the fact that Melissa Benoist is publically responding to that remark, than the original remark and who it was said by, I think that might need some deeper reflection.

I've just had a look on Feig's Twitter, here's some posts he retweeted about the Women's March:

And some things he posted that weren't retweets:

https://twitter.com/paulfeig/status/822952218244452352
https://twitter.com/paulfeig/status/822927534798970881

There's more stuff that he's posted and retweeted (a number of retweets were of the Washington D.C. march), but I think we get the idea.

My apologies, between me forgotting about the Right to Life march and you not referring to it by that name in your post, I thought you were referring to the Women's March.

He may not've agreed with it, he may have abstained due to how charged the debate still is over pro-life/right to choose. Has there been much criticism directed at those who took part?
