Ghostbusters was filmed during the fall months of 1983 in New York, from September to October.

Hook and Ladder #8 (Exterior)
55 Central Park West
Tavern on the Green
Columbia University
New York Public Library
Bank of New York - Manhattan Bank and Trust
Lincoln Center) (Fountain)

Alternative loctions were used in Los Angeles to mimic the front of the Dana Barrett's apartment building, as was the firehouse.

Fire Station No. 23 (Interior)
Millennium Biltmore Hotel - Sedgewick Hotel
Los Angeles Central Library (Interior/Basement)

Sadly, this entire building burned down and was rebuilt in the 90's. It looks nothing like the movie whatsoever.
