Charles Foster Hearse - Founded the magazines "Spooks Illustrated", "Boosweek" and "Popular Fantasmics". He created the publishing empire based on his love of the supernatural. His ghost still haunts his mansion.
Charles Foster Hearse III - The Grandson of Charles Foster Hearse, he wishes to select one of the Ghostbusters for the Spooks Illustrated "Ghosthunter of the Year" award.

- Peter references The Wizard of Oz and Huey Lewis and the News.
- In a bit of a "Citizen Kane" spoof, Maurice Lamarche does his famous Orson Welles voice as the ghost in this episode.
- Charles Foster Hearse is a reference from from Citizen Kane, Charles Foster Kane.
- Peter says "of the swimsuit issue?" but Ray's voice comes out.
- Peter's line "I came, I saw, I captured" is a reference to the first Ghostbusters movie where Bill Murray says "We came, we saw, we kicked it's ass!"
- Peter's line "Is that where the Gatekeeper lives?" is a reference to the first Ghostbusters movie. The Gatekeeper is what Sigourney Weaver's character becomes when she is possessed.
- The names "Hearse Castle" and "San Simoleon" are plays on the famous Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. |

Hearse Ghost laughs evilly
Peter Venkman: It wasn't that funny.
Egon Spengler: The key to this is the word "rosebud". If only we knew what it means.
Peter Venkman: They're those little things you see on rose bushes in the spring!
Ray Stantz: Thanks Peter. I knew you'd have all the answers.
Peter Venkman: Hey, anytime! *under his breath* prima donnas.
Winston Zeddemore: Hey! You know what it says on this sled?
Hearse Ghost: ROSEBUD!!!
Winston Zeddemore: Yeah. It says Rosebud!
Ray Stantz: Mmmm I got a paper cut!
Peter Venkman: There's a happy little kid in all of us. Well most of us.
Peter Venkman: This is going to take teamwork, take the front door Ray, Egon the back, Winston, you cover the emergency exit, I'll go inside and get him....wait that can't be right! |
