Ghostbusters

'Hero Packs

The "Hero" Proton Packs used in the first film were fiberglass shells mounted on aluminum back-plates (or "motherboards) and carried on A.L.I.C.E. frames. Many of the add-on pieces (such as the ion arm, booster tube, etc.) were made of aluminum. The detail pieces (resistors, tubing, etc.) mainly consist of vintage electrical and pneumatic fittings. These packs also feature scrolling lights for both the Cyclotron and Power Cell.

Another distinguishing feature of these hero packs is the unique rainbow ribbon cable, which has yet to be identified as a found item.

The aluminum Neutrona Wands on the hero packs feature extensive lighting, flash-bulbs in the tips (for syncing SFX), and a barrel-extension mechanism controlled by a small green lever. At least one hero pack has a fully scrolling orange light (i.e "Bargraph") on the gun itself.

These packs would later be slightly modified for use in Ghostbusters II.

Foam Stunt Packs

The foam stunt packs utilize simple olive-drab strapping instead of A.L.I.C.E. frames. While they lack V-hooks for holstering the Neutrona Wands, they do feature minimal, yet static lighting in the Cyclotron.
