I swear to god when Venkman is calling out to "grab your sticks" as they walk closer to the threat, with the music, and the cutting? Oh man. THAT scene is why I'm a ghostbusters fan. I can't even tell you how excited as a kid, how pumped I got over that scene, It's just great filmmaking. Great use of every discipline. Editing, music, effects, cinematography.
As a kid I jumped up and down for it's epicness. I didn't understand why my parents were laughing at it, until I got a bit older and understood the innuendo of that whole bit.

It's what I hope GB2020 will be as well. Something for the kids and a 'hidden' lair for the adults. A seriousness to the absurd.

Wolfhard is such a badass last name. It sounds like a heavy metal band name. "Ladies and gentlemen I present WOLFHARD!" Or it sounds like a name from Harry Potter or maybe Game of Thrones. "Harry this is Professor Vikkus Wolfhard, your new transfiguration teacher" or "of all the great houses north of Moat Calin, House Wolfhard was feared most of all. Their sigil of an erect Direwolf mounting it's mate was a banner no castle welcomed outside it's gates"

Yes. I get Spengler vibe. I saw a pic of him in glasses and laughed like a kid at the likeness.

If course, I won't care unless Janine is grandma!

(Sorry not good a pic tags)
I was going to say no. Besides maybe the nose? Having just finished S3 of stranger things I didn't really see it...

But Holy crap. In that pic? He totally looks like Spengler spawn. Wow. It's uncanny

Bite your tongue!

But really, since the family doesn't know they have a connection, I doubt they are direct descendants, and if they are, then a lot of explaining will need to be done.

I think that the connection is trough the single mother. She could be related to one of the Ghostbusters or one of the other characters who knew them.

My bet is Dana. When supernatural strikes, she goes into "shit, not again" mood and calls her old friends for help.

Agreed, I think Carrie Coon's character is related to Dana

I find it interesting that Jason said 'our ship has a rudder'. Sure, it's a play on Paul Rudds name, but is Paul also steering / teaching the kids into becoming Ghostbusters? A kind of extreme GB situation?

I would have thought an original GB would be the one guiding these kids, but we'll see.

Well if Rudd is a Ghostbuster in this film, of the cast so far he and Coon seem to be the only ones that could get away with driving the Ecto 1. It also occurred to me that this movie could break the tradition of having just 4 Ghostbusters. Paul Rudd can serve as leader and the 4 kids work with him. That way Ray gets passed the “Proton Pack is not a toy rule” by having Rudd supervise the kids. Again there is the possibility of the 3 remaining OGBs suiting up and if that happens that puts at least 8 Ghostbusters in one movie. There’s a concept that just gave me goosebumps.

The wonderful thing right now is that they are doing a great job keeping these details under wraps and I think that has got to be really hard in this day and age. There are so many directions that this film can go. It is very exciting. :):):)

They were able to write, greenlight and make a teaser for the thing without anyone knowing nothing. Doesn't surprise me that we still don't know jack.

Only Aykroyd spilled some beans in November but everyone thought he was crying wolf.

Ivan teased a new live action at the SDCC 2017 without clarifying what it was. A crossing universe movie? Another reboot?

Rudd is old enough to have witnessed the spectral phenomenons in the first two movies, so maybe it inspired him to become a GB.

Maybe the GB stopped being busters when Egon died but this doesn't stop Rudd to teach his own brand of GB with stolen bits and pieces from the firehouse? This ofcourse attracts the attention of the old GB to warn him of the consequences, but not before an evil entity can cross over and wreck havoc. :-)

if that's solid expect a new trailer with light material over the next two weekends. More like the logo, song and maybe the ecto's engine back firing if we're lucky. Maybe a cast reveal or a new shot of the barn with Rudd's uniform hanging somewhere.

I would imagine the most realistic thing we might see prior to filming is a studio approved image of whatever version of Ecto we end up getting. I'm sure the studio would rather be in control of that reveal rather than a spy shot from filming.

Calling it right f@cking now: the first image will be Jason's ciak board with the official title.

If I have to guess a wild guess: a pics with the OGB in costume and the caption "They came, they saw, they still kick ass!"

Production Weekly still reports July 15th in Calgary
They may be filming now. If principle photography starts on the 4th, they may be doing some 2nd unit work or plate photography.

Has there been any word on which VFX vendor is the primary on GB20? I'm betting Sony Imageworks, but I'd love for ILM to get the work. Apparently this movie is going to have some unique effects requirements, whatever that means.

I wish we had a budget estimate to work with as well. I'm guessing 90-120 million. No way it's below 90.

Yeah I don't trust anything that man says. It may very well be under 100 million, but he's notoriously...hmm how do I say this without sound disrespectful to the creator of our beloved franchise?Ok he's notoriously "misinformed".

I'd imagine a budget between 90-100, probably on the lower side of 90.

What I am having trouble with is trying to imagine the scale of the film. Maybe it's the heavily implied rural setting (which I still think might be the entire movie, no NYC) but I keep seeing this as being something smaller scale. At least in terms of what we will actually see on screen. Could be completely off base, but given how overstuffed with set pieces ATC was I would imagine a more tightly focused character drive narrative is the goal here. Jason Reitman's entire career backs that assumption up to a degree as well.

As a matter of argument, I don't think a Ghostbusters movie has to have a huge scale.
