From Ghostbusters Day, did anyone snag Jason's Reitman's post where he was wearing one of the Mini-Puft shirts, the post without all the text on the screen. I think it might have been a temp post/Instagram story that has since vanished.

While new stories would definitely have helped fill the vacuum... How has everyone else been finding the comic industry over the last year? I've only been following Transformers/Back to the Future but the schedule's been very hit and miss (I assume because of the pandemic). As frustrating as it is that IDW has put the pause on Ghostbusters, maybe it was just as well if there was a decent risk of the issues coming out sporadically.
I do hope we'll get some news on it soon, I don't understand why it's so impossible to simply say if the series has been cancelled or put on hold or not. You're more likely to piss off the customers by keeping them in the dark.

From what I've heard IDW is in a very precarious financial situation.
Since there's been no IDW I've really fallen off with my comic reading in general. I'm an old man now and I wasn't really excited with DC's Future State, I'm kinda sick of all the epic gimmick stories and huge crossovers. Maybe it's just me but it seems like comics are kinda in a cold period right now. Nothing really standing out...

I imagine this is extra difficult for you, since it sounds like you're keeping a lid on some secrets — and good on ya for doing so
Waiting for the film is beginning to feel like the running knight in Monty Python. Feels like it's never getting here... but suddenly it'll overwhelm us.

They've improved their bottom line thanks to Last Ronin, season 4 of Earp etc. since the last financial report in March. So they're on a good rebound. The sad irony is in the time during the delays, they could have easily done a couple more story arcs after Year One. And as Kingpin said, the utter lack of communication about the comic was unprofessional and off-putting.

And the stills, Lucky and Podcast, and the bts material!

I honestly cant get into the extreme crossovers either. Just gimmicky “nerd porn” to me.

The first crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was good. The rest? No. The Transformers crossover seemed especially pointless.

The Real Ghostbusters crossover made sense to me. Ghostbusters 101 felt like it intended to be a different story, then got hijacked into being a larger crossover story. It was kind of neat seeing some of the pairings from the next crossover, but it felt like we'd already been down that road. By the time the Transformers crossover was released, I was a bit checked out.
I'd really like just see some back to basics stories. I imagine one of the first story arcs we'd see from a new series would be backfilling events that occur prior to Afterlife. Makes sense why that would have to wait, but it'd still be nice to see some back-to-basics storytelling.
Bison256 wrote: ↑June 23rd, 2021, 8:33 am I don't mind get real, 101 or crossing over. Because the multiple universes of Ghostbusters goes back to Dan's original rough draft.
I don't mind it when the multiverse idea is used sparingly. Get Real worked very well.
Problem is — with the exception of International, Year One and some one-offs — the series had been crossovers since 2014. It started to feel less like a multiverse and more like a series of "special guest" issues.
I thought of a horribly cliched way they could mesh idw's continuity into afterlife.
A IDW story with the afterlife cast would require the younger IDW versions of the guys to interact with Egon's grand children and co. How do you do that without making it another possible future alternate universe? Time travel, that's how.
There were years of people referencing transformers and Egon dismissing the concept of space robots before the transformers crossover. In crossingover Egon similarly dismissed time travel.
Time travel would avoid the issue why the guys don't deal with summerville in their era or why Egon doesn't reconnect with his daughter while she's a teenager. They can't, because it would cause a time paradox. IDW could do a back to the future/Ghostbusters crossover to introduce the tech, the same way the ninja turtles gave them the tech to travel between universes.
Some of “Get Real” was clever..but..the crossover/multiverse thing is just so overdone its like it was the big fad of the 00s..i think it started with Turtles Forever and Spider Verse..
Having the same characters meet each other from another persons take or design always seemed off to me. Lol when i read it im always like “but its the same character…why is this special?”
“Who are you?” “Im you!” “But if youre me! Who am i!?”
Its too try hard meta, and takes me out of the story because it tears down the fourth wall completely.
they recently did “three jokers” in the Batman realm of things and i think its the dumbest thing ever. (Yea i know, Infinite Earths and Earth 2s..yadda yadda..)
Idk, to me its like having Daniel Craig, Roger Moore and Sean Connery having a crossover….actually that be kinda awesome. Lol

I'm imagining Sean Connery's .007 crossing over with Pierce Brosnan's, but acting like his impersonator does on the Celebrity Jeopardy SNL skits.
To be fair, I'm still butthurt about how we were promised a "Ghostbusters meets The X-Files" crossover. Anyone remember that awful trainwreck? Didn't they rip off some of the artwork in that one too?

[frantically searches Twitter and Instagram for a spoiler with which to change the subject]
So.... do you suppose Egon is buried somewhere in Summerville? Would he use a ghost trap for his own urn? Maybe he was disintegrated in some kind of lab/bust mishap?
Just thinking out loud, does it seem like when Ivan and Jason talk about ghostbusters and how much they talk about people like it, they rarely, if ever, talk about the gb fan base. I know we aren’t as big of a base as say Star Wars fans, but we do have a dedicated group, world wide. Idk…I know the pandemic has changed a lot of things, but I guess I just haven’t seen a lot of sympathy and acknowledgment from the top saying they know we have wanted to have this movie for 30 plus years now.
