It’s been 40 years since the classic comedy “Stripes” was released. Now there is a chance to see it again, on the big screen.
The 1981 movie will screen in select theaters nationwide on Sunday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Sept. 2.
The comedy follows John Winger (Bill Murray) who, after a really bad day, decides to join the Army – and he convinces his pal Russell (the late Harold Ramis) to enlist as well. Hijinks follow. John Candy plays a portly pal, John Larroquette adds a straight-man routine, and Warren Oates is a tough sergeant.
The movie yields a slew of famous repeatable lines and iconic scenes.
“Stripes 40th Anniversary” includes a special introduction from director Ivan Reitman and Murray, who was fresh off his several seasons on “Saturday Night Live” when the movie was made. Tickets can be purchased via www.FathomEvents.com or at participating box offices.
