My cousin was driving on 29 North from Danville, VA to Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, Sept 20 around 1:00pm and spotted an Ecto-1 going north as well. He couldn't get a picture because he was on the phone. I'm not sure where it would've been heading because there were no shows in the area. Does anyone have any info?

The only Ecto I'm familiar with in the Virginia area is the Ecto Mini...

If it was a '59 then my guess would be the it's primered-turned-promotional Ecto. That's the only one I'm aware of in Virginia.

The one owned by George Barris? I didn't think it was still here in VA... I know it used to be here...

Barris never owned it, he just built it. I'm not aware of any sale of the car from the private collector, but I do recall one time there was a video of it indicating it was in Tennessee.

For anyone interested, here's the discussion on the primered-turned-promtional Ecto

Yes that was my Ecto , of Virginia Ghost Corps, it was a 1967 M&M ambulance, we were on the way to a show. We currently no longer have that Ecto though, but we are working on a 1959 /1960, it will be the most beautiful Ecto 1 in Virginia!
