We did some minor modifications to my Ford Explorer to make the vehicle for my upcoming fanfilm The New Ghostbusters: Tampa District, here's some shots of the car I dubbed the "Ecto-2"

Just a tip, you're probably sick of hearing from me lol, but anyways, I'm not making the conversions to my mustang permanent. The rack will be held on with heavy duty magnets/suction cups, that way, when I'm sick of the car (And beleive me with all the crap it's pulling, it'll happen soon) I can pop the roof rack off, pull off the stickers, and blammo, stock mustang ready for sale, just a thought.

Lol, awesome. Right now I'm looking for a wagon or possibly a hearse I can make into an ecto. I need something bigger/longer in the body, this tiny space on top of this little car isn't exactly what I'd call 'roofrack material..' I suppose an ectostang's only a good secondary car, as you could really only carry 2 ghostbusters and their equipment :/

I used a ford Taurus Station wagon for my ecto it came out really good. The ford Explorer is a great idea. I hpe it comes out how you want it to.
Check out some pics of my Ecto.

Well the truck isnt in the best shape, so we may end up losing it eventually and we may get a pickup instead.

I'm thinking I'm going to need to buy a station wagon, and yeah, ford taurus was what I was planning on making. The EctoStang will look really good, I've done a couple photoshops, as well as a large drawing (So large, I can't scan it) And I think it looks bad ass... In theory. Trouble is, the roof is so small.. I think I only have 48" across at widest (It narrows in the middle) and around 40" from front to back, which sucks. I have a tiny cab... Can you guys tell me what you used to build the tanks on the sides of the roof rack on your taurus? And did you bolt permanently to the roof?

Yeah Ecto96 we just used a large peice of PVC for The yellow tubes on the rack. and it is only bloted onto the rack (buy one of those u clamps to attach it to the rack). But if you are asking about the blue tube on the side. that is attached but can be easily detached but to be honest I didn't work on that part. The best person to ask about that is my bro reallighostbuster on this site. I'll let him know to tell you on this post.

Nice work on the Ford conversion so far, would it be possible to see larger pics so we can form a better idea of the overall conversion?

I see what you're talking about Ectoman, did you do that for the smaller tanks on the driver side as well? What about the pressure regulators on them? (I'm going for detail that much, I know it's pointless on such a small car and rack that isn't even a caddi or a longbody at least) but This'll be put on other cars and changed as time goes on. So far as in the blue tubes, I'm going to use some vaccume hose, or some pool hose painted blue, and attach magnets to it so it just sits on the car strongly enough, but easily removed. I.E. magnets in the end on the fender, and magnets bolted on to the midsection. I have to be careful though, alot of this car is plastic, the bumpers, fender/door trim, and the whole sweep over the sides over the doors, including the parts attached to the back window, are all plastic. Making magnetic holding more complex. But, I'm hopeful and have plenty of help on and off this forum, thanks for the info guys.

Anybody know the real dimensions of the no ghost logo on the ecto 1?

I have some sad news, friends, the '95 Ford Explorer, our original Ecto-2 was retired today, my older sister needed a car and it was the only vehicle available to her and her limited wages. Ghostbusters: Tampa District is now without a vehicle, so we are currenly in the process of searching for a new one. I have my eye on a white Toyota station wagon that does look the part of and Ecto. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have the new car, which is part of a special deal offer a car lot is doing, I have to sit in the car from 6AM to 9AM and the car could cost as low as 5 dollars. Wish me luck guys!
