Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that the "Elite" Proton Pack plans by Thomas John Becker are no longer being hosted by Ghostbusters Fans. We had previously removed the links to the files several months ago, however several "cached" copies of the files were maintained on the GBFans Server by our new Wiki system.

Today we received a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) take down notice from Thomas John Becker, that we are providing in full here for your reference:

To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is a Notice of Infringement as authorized in 512(c) of the U.S. Copyright Law under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). I wish to report an instance of Copyright Infringement. The infringing material appears on the Service for which you are the designated agent.

1. There are several (31) files that I, "TBecker," am the sole owner of being hosted on http://www.gbfans.com as of 11/5/2013, 3:15 EST. As of 11/4/2013, there were 93 files, but 62 of these files, in a different format, were removed per a request to the site owner yesterday. The files in question were requested to be deleted several months ago, but only direct links from other sources were deleted; the files themselves remained, which allowed 3rd parties to then re-host them without my
permission.

The "Elite" Plans had a lot of incorrect information and inconsistencies anyway. It's probably best that they aren't floating around anymore.

Whoa, I must have missed something big in the community recently.

I assume there was some sort of fallout here? I had always thought this particular member was a big supporter of the hobby?

Makes two of us but I have a genuine idea I think of why. A debate may have taken place offsite in regards to these plans that left them still open. At no fault of the site owner.

After much consideration, it was settled on by the Moderation staff that TJ's conduct here did not reflect the atmosphere we were wanting to encourage at GBFans. In response to that, he asked to have the plans removed, and on finding the residual files mentioned in AJ's post, he sent the DMCA notice.

I think that was a legal concern, posting publically that they were removed per the actual reposted request.

Once a legal document is filed, it's open public record unless juvenile or judge's orders most of the time. On something like this, no reason it wouldn't be public record.

Almost daily I get open records for work. Police reports, state and federal indictments, etc. Certain personal information is always censored on those. Like the social security number....and in ten years I can probably count the number of police reports that didn't censor the suspects phone never on one hand.

I don't know that there's anything requiring it be censored in this case, but I probably would have left the email and number out.

I didn't leave this open for discussion. This topic will be presented to any user when they click an outdated link to the "Elite" plans, to explain why those plans are no longer available. It is standard procedure to post a DMCA notice in full in exchange for the content.
