deadderek posted a bit about it elsewhere,
deadderek wrote: September 23rd, 2021, 11:21 pm So heres a neat tidbit.

Tonight all the local franchises were on hand for the premier of the new Ray Parker Jr. documentary.

We had an absolute blast of course, and the man was more than happy to sign autographs and take pictures.

Here's the interesting part.

We were shown a brand new (and fully finished) Ray Parker Jr Ghostbusters music video that was made about 3-ish years ago right before Afterlife was given the green light.*

We asked "How come this was never released? This is amazing."

The answer we got was that Sony was good to go until the new movie was greenlit and that they didn't want to "confuse" the public.

Before we could ask for more details a PR person interrupted us sadly. :(

But neat to think about, and hopefully one day the new music video sees the light of day.

*to clarify the music video was not part of the documentary.

Love his signature on my Steelbook:

Ray was here in Edmonton for the premiere of the film where our Alberta Ghostbusters franchise was present for. The film is really good with a ton shown about his life, family and the famous people he's worked with, things he got screwed over for and his LOVE of the GB song.

Our group was out front of the theatre attracting attention and building interest and he just walks up and starts fist bumping us and telling to turn the song up when someone would play it on their packs. No limo, no entourage, guy just walked up with a hat and T shirt. Man is sweet as pie. A great note in the GB book for the man who gave our anthem...and the unlikely way he did it.

Just watched it. If you're expecting a 1 hour 24 minute documentary mostly based around the GB theme then be prepared to subvert your expectations. It's a documentary mostly about Ray's life, then he talks about the GB theme for maybe 10 minutes (maybe less?) an hour into the film, then goes back to his life. It was interesting and a fascinating look back in time.
