Discuss the upcoming 4th movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire to be released in March 2024.

Remember that they will release the merch once they know it’s been included in the final edit 👍. About 30 of them came to the studio while we were filming to look at lots of the props and SFX gags . Am sure they will still sell ok though , before the SAG strike Firehouse as it was then was to be released before Christmas .

I had this weird day dream earlier.

At the end of Frozen Empire, the Ghostbusters need to use the Slime Blowers to counteract the new villain and the "Death Chill." After the villain is defeated, the ice all over the city starts melting. The new team, led by Winston, celebrate triumphantly. "I LOVE THIS TOWN!" exclaims Winston.

The camera pans down, as we see water and remnants of the mood slime mix together and make its way into a storm drain. The camera focuses further and further into the darkness. Then a deep bellowing voice says, "WIIIIINSTONNNNN."

Derek's not wrong though... Vigo was welcome as a distinctly different villian to Gozer, but ultimately should stay dead and busted.

You seriously want Vigo back?

His story is done and over with. Let's move this franchise onward.

Hmm, though what Jon said did get me to thinking, will there will be an end tag teasing the next movie like they did with the Containment Unit at the end of Afterlife? Or will there be tags at all during the credits? Or all the "Death Chill ice" for that matter. "Death Chill" seems to connote the ice is a psychoreactive energy construct - fear made manifest. So what happens when the big bad(s) are defeated. Will all the ice "melt" like conventional ice and dictate a big clean-up like presumably with the "marshmallow" residue of Stay Puft after GB1 or like the Slime Shell vaporizing and shooting up into sky in the finale of GB2? Hmm.

Plus, he never mentioned “Vigo”

He only mentioned the usage of Slime Blowers on the NEW villain..so.

If its not fair game to want to see a return of other gadgets..we might as well retire the proton pack (thats surely overstayed its welcome, amirite?)

Nobody's taking issue with the return of familiar gadgets though. :P

As for if a end credit sting becomes a regular thing... I can see Ghost Corps doing that for as long the cinematic franchise remains profitable. At least we'll find out in three months if there is a sting. :)

Personally, I’m really over bumpers for sequels at the end of movies. Sometimes I just want a movie to end. No mid credits scene. No post credits scene. Please just end the dang movie.

Am I the only one who thinks the Death Chill is a red herring? Like trailers are notoriously unreliable. We have this large ice monster looking for its horns. I think there’s a chance it literally kills with with ice, not by some mysterious manifestation of fear that kills you.

True. However, the “Wiiinston” voice i always thought were the other ghosts in the subway not particularly Vigo’s?

I feel the same. Superhero movies ran that into the ground.

Yet, for Afterlife it worked. We never thought wed get a part 4..so, it wasnt a “tease” as much as it was an open ending.

Plus, Ernies acting is so top notch in that scene.

I said it before (and I may feel differently after credits roll on FE…) but i do feel GB4:FE should be the last feature film for a while, id a prefer a “complete” GB film saga much like Back to the Future. Just from an artistic and narrative standpoint.

Going back to super hero fatigue..its better to have a tight collection of films rather than flog a dead horse with each film being flimsier than the last.

Id say continue on with the animated series. I feel like im very alone on this sentiment lol

Yes, I figure it's just a Class 1 disembodied voice and not Vigo.

We'll see if the next thing after FE is the animated movie or the animated streaming series.

Correct, it was a vision that just "popped in there."

Do I want Vigo back? Not really. If they went that route, they would have to do something really interesting and new with the character.

What I'd like to see them do is take ghostbusting overseas. For example, they could tackle Houska Castle. From Wikipedia:

Houska Castle, and most specifically the chapel, was constructed over a large hole in the ground that is a "gateway to Hell", which is allegedly so deep that no one could see the bottom of it.[6] Animal-human hybrids were reported to have crawled out of it, and dark-winged, otherworldly creatures flew in its vicinity. Legend has it that when construction began in the castle, all of the prisoners that were sentenced to death were offered a pardon if they consented to be lowered by rope into the hole, and report back on what they saw. When the first person was lowered, he began screaming after a few seconds, and when pulled back to the surface, he looked as if he had aged 30 years. He had grown wrinkles and his hair had turned white.

To me, that story is BEGGING to be turned into a Ghostbusters film.

Totally disagree, that was Vigo trying to put the sh*ts up them, always thought that was his voice. Why wouldn't it be? I mean he tried to burn Ray and Egon to death in the photo lab

There's a fair amount of naivety on this thread, ofcourse this one is going to remained or rip off GB2.Afterlife did it with GB1 so it stands to reason that they're going to do it again.Ive said from day one the big bad will be Vigo on some form

The " creatives" wont let us move on, look what they did with Afterlife? We waited 30 years for them to remake GB1 and make it both unfunny and completely unthreatening and implausible.Ofcourse they'll remake GB2, it's easy to do and they've done it before

There is a way to have Vigo back and it's to have Ray embody him, could be why Ray isn't able to be with the GB's?

Mod Note: 4 posts done in a row have been merged into 1.

I think there will definitely be some GB2 callbacks and maybe some Vigo mentions but that will be it. If they ends up using the slimeblowers I imagine there will be some kind of backstory.

RAY: "Well, we used them to defeat a malevolent ghost tyrant 30 years ago. We hosed him with positively charged slime"

PETER: "yup, we used them on Ray too"

PODCAST: "Cool!!! why?"

WINSTON: "the tyrant possessed him right after we swimmed in a river of slime and began exchanging punches between us"

Grooberson take a worried look at the OGB

PETER: "don't look at me, I was dining with a girl"

Loving the new packaging!

Way more eye catching than that weird light blue they had goin on for the Afterlife line. Looked more like educational toys from Fisherprice.

The dark blue with the slime feels so much more “ghostbustery” reminiscent of RGB

Also..Pukey is out of the box!

Not a huge toy guy myself, but hard agree on the new packaging design. Artwork is brilliant.

I like the look of the new ghosts, too. Although, that Slimer toy is questionable.

If anyone wants to see the full 360 views of the packaging and/or the names of the ghosts, the Austin Ghostbusters have more photos on their Instagram page.
Davideverona wrote: December 28th, 2023, 12:26 pm They totally spoiled Hasbro revelations, haven't they?
I kind of doubt it... we're only seeing the Spenglers. If the last wave of toys is any indication, the companion ghosts we see here may have nothing to do with the film (although "Pukie" and Slimer are most likely exceptions to that rule).
