Well, here it is.

Wow. This really outdid my expectations. I am literally over the moon. Notice the vastly different DiC logo, and the different transition from the group shot to the logo. Apparently, the one on DVD was post-produced on videotape, and that was why it had the tape/wipe transition.

I'm continually surprised that DiC didn't have a copy of it anymore.
We know they still had it right before Halloween of 1989, when they aired The Halloween Door prime-time special.
Notice how many tiny snippets of it were mined to create the new opening title song.

What a knockabout of pure fun that was!

I did a cutdown of the Halloween Door opening theme. Looks like a solid fifteen seconds' worth of it was recycled from the Pilot.

Like Robert said in his restoration doc, some things got lost in the shuffle. when being transferred from one archive storage facility to Sony's (which occurred after 1989). And no doubt the master tape of the Promo Pilot was one of those things.

They even showed a picture of the tape. The only reason they were able to include it was because Kevin Altieri, who worked on it kept a copy.

Ugh, that forced 60 FPS makes my brain hurt... even so, that is the CLEANEST version of the pilot thus far... now if someone could do the 4K treatment WITHOUT the 60 FPS, that'd be incredible.

You know I gotta say…that’s a damn good pilot. The animation is so good.
RGB has always been one of those things I loved as a kid but as an adult…I like it but don’t love it. Extreme Ghostbusters is much better imo. RGB is just too “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” for me as an adult. There’s a couple really, really good episodes(the Cthulhu one) but just too kiddie for me. EGB on the other hand is actually scary and pretty funny at times. Just wish the animation was better.
But this pilot is incredible. Some of the animation is really great. I just wish that could’ve carried over to the show.

Sometimes I'll see someone who has edited a more modern animated movie to 60 FPS and a lot of people will say that that's not how it was intended to look.
I get it now. 60 FPS does not really suit the pilot. Leave that type of performance to video games.

I gotta agree. As much as I'm glad that this pilot has been cleaned up, making it 60 fps almost makes me motion-sick.

James Eatock posted a video about the RGB promo (some bts photos, some of the storyboards, and Kevin Altieri's very first RGB sketch).
