I made a post earlier asking the GB world if I should focus on upgrading a life size spirit pack, or start fresh with a Q Pack. Thanks for the replies. I decided to do a bit of both. I can already see I’ve bitten off off as much as I can chew! It’s my new end of summer project.

I’ve measured and printed ever-so-slightly scaled replacements using the Q pack files, so like I said, it’s a bit of a hybrid.

Improvements paid for, shipped and/or in progress:

-Tacobelli cyclotron/n-filter upgrade
-wire mesh for n filter holes
-HGA corner replacement & ion arm gap filler
-Cutting off booster tube and booster box. Not a small chore, but it’s got to go. It’s too wrong.
-Have 1mm black plastic sheeting to replace back wall where new booster tube will mount.
-Resin printed booster frame
-Booster/ion arm weld block
-Cut ion arm cap off, printed Q pack replacement, cut brass ion arm to place properly
-crank box cover/resin printed actual crank(volume)
-cut off pack Clippard, replacing with resin printed valve and fdm mounting plate
-vacuum port tube
-Ghostlab42 full light and sound kit
-Ghostlab42 vent relay
-Talentcell battery pack
-Wasteland Industries vent smoke kit
-6.5” slim mount speaker & 16ga wire
-Accurate cosmetic tubing and ribbon kit
-Resin printed brass fittings and legris elbows
-Charlesworth motherboard and metal ribbon clamp
-Motherboard mounts
-LC1 ALICE frame
-wand and pack labels from mobysign
-repaint, obviously(texture?)

-Spengler wand with proper ‘84 grips
-Fruttotechnology bargraph
-non split loom

-and whatever other odds and ends I come up with.

Now that I look at this list, it seems…a bit much. Oh well! :-) Will let you know how it’s going.
Have a great day!

Looks amazing, you've done an incredible job.

Can I ask a question?

You've cut out and replaced your HGA and corner - would you mind telling me how you did that please?

Did you buy an off-the-shelf product or 3D print something yourself?

Was it easy to blend in? Any other tips or pointers?

I've been modifying my 1:1 Spirit pack and I'd like to do this next, but I'm nervous about messing it up. I've done the Tacbellie cyclotron/bumper/n-filter replacement so I'm okay with cutting out, but with that the replacement covered the cut out part. With the HGA corner, the joins will be exposed so I wouldn't mind some tips in how to get it right.

Thanks!

Good morning!
Thanks for the message and compliment; I appreciate it greatly. Let’s talk HGA.
TerrorDogDesigns on Etsy is your friend. I used his pre printed corner kit. There’s quite a few Q-pack bits and pieces on my pack, and I strongly considered scaling and printing the corner from those files, so that’s an option too. You’ll have to play with scale and height, and the TDD kit was easier. Here’s the link:

I’m with you on the hesitation: you can hide cyclotron goof-ups! It was concerning to take a whole corner out of the pack. The replacement piece fits very well, but requires finishing work like any other FDM piece, but the “weld” that comes on the HGA itself looks amazing. So, glue, tape to hold it all together, and lots of time with spot filler and sandpaper. I used real Allen bolts as a great finishing touch.
Please keep in mind that you cut away a shoulder strap mount to get the new corner kit in place, so if you do this, you’re committing yourself to adding a motherboard and Alice frame. Oh no! 😆
Here’s a few pics for reference. Please let us know what you decide to do!
Take care,
Patrick

That's amazing thanks Patrick! Yes the TDD product on Etsy is the one I've been looking at, looks like the best option.

I thought I could live with the square corner, but when you watch the films, the rounded corner and separate HGA are actually quite an iconic part of the pack silhouette, it just doesn't look right without it.

What you've done is exactly what I had envisaged, so thank you for confirming, I'll be ordering that soon!

Already have a custom motherboard and ALICE frame so should just be a case of some minor tweaks.
