From that video did GBnews confirm that the sounds aren't built into the trap and it's possible to build custom rods? It would be awesome as hell to be able to load the theme song onto the rods. Imagine an entire scripted scene of catching the ghost, the trap shakes, then the song plays. Can't wait to see how people mod the traps!

well that makes sense as there are not 31 days in November ;p
So that's the reason my life feels like an eternity

Turtuv wrote: November 24th, 2024, 4:11 pm I've watched the video, but I still have two questions: 1)is there a rumbling function that let the trap shake after capturing a ghost like the matty trap?
2)PKE Meter's lights. Can you swap to the GB2 light patterns on the wings like you could with the Matty PKE? I've read this question on the comments under Jason's video, but he said that he couldn't found a way to do that so maybe it's not possible.

Does someone in here have that kind of informations? Thank you
Can someone in here contact Pat or any other member of the haslab team to ask those two things? I really care about them and I would like to know for sure if they are present or not, thank you to anyone who can help

@Turtuv - Jason from Ghostbusters News confirmed in his video review that the trap does have a rumble feature that can be turned on or off.
And that part hasn't been confirmed yet. I wouldn't worry too much about that since there's a good chance they'll be shipping out after the Thanksgiving holiday. Hopefully by Monday, Dec. 2nd.

timeware wrote: November 28th, 2024, 8:22 pm I'm curious if the PKE meter would bring any issues when flying? How do cosplayers travel with their replicas? Do proton packs usually cause a lot of trouble?
Proton packs cause a LOT of problems. I know a lot of Ghostbusters cosplayers prefer to ship their packs to the hotels they're staying at or a friend/relative near where they're going over flying with them if they decide to bring them at all. There have been horror stories of packs being destroyed or stolen over the years. Smaller props like the PKE or trap shouldn't be an issue at all since you can pack them with your regular luggage or even bring the in a carry-on.

Thanks. Something out of the blue came up that's going to prevent me from backing the current haslab, and Mondo figures but it's a fun out of the blue I'd rather do instead. I didn't have any issues transporting two droids from California. Just curious about the smaller props. Hopefully someone can give me a fair deal on the Ecto-1 when it's close to shipping out.

mrmichaelt wrote: November 28th, 2024, 5:36 pm Well, if I recall with the packs. Some in Dublin got them first through Zavvi. Might have been a fluke. But anyone who lives the closest to the Hasbro distribution centers in Chino, California and Elwood, Illinois should in theory get their Two in the Box! first.
Hasbro used Zavvi for the EU for the pack. But the TITB was sold directly through Hasbro Europe

@Turtuv - As pointed out by Matt from the video above, you're going to need a very small smoke machine - much smaller than the one he has!
I'd wait a couple of weeks so makers out there on Etsy can work on making mini smoke machines. Just give it some time. :)

My concern with the PKE meter is it losing credibility if someone mods it to the point of tricking people to thinking it's finding ghosts. Ghost Hunting groups that run tours, and over night investigations. I can see some people using the PKE meter as an incentive to draw in tourists. "Hunt like a Ghostbuster."

If it proves to be effective it takes one bad move to ruin the devices reputation. I wouldn't take issue with Mods to extend the range, or improve it's fuctions though. I would love to see someone mod one to include a screen similar to the 2009 video game.

I just would like to know if it has a GB2 led sequence mode too, for sentimental reason

It is a Ghostbusters toy replica with a fun gimmick. It's not a high-spec camera, microphone, or Spirit Box, so I'm not sure it's really going to be held much in the way of high standing in ghost-hunting circles.

I don't believe there's any reason to fear the scenario you've proposed will come to pass. Professional ghost hunters face greater challenges from people fleecing unwitting tourists and running off with their money. :whatever:

That would require a whole new circuit board, plus a substantial modification to the shell to fit such a screen.

Okay, to the first point: people would have an easier time modding the thing to have an actual taser in taser mode.

To the SECOND point: Like Kingpin said, that isn't something you can just convert this PKE meter into. That's a built from scratch type of thing.

It's a toy, it was never meant to be a scientific instrument. It has a motor inside for the wings. A motor is an Electromagnet. Electromagnets generate...you guessed it...Electro-Magnetic Fields. This is why EMF meters typically don't have motorized parts (and if they did they would probably be 3x the size due to all the extra shielding needed).

If you show up to a "serious" ghost hunt with a noisy obnoxious Hasbro toy which generates EMF you're going to do more than enough to ruin your own reputation, let alone the PKE Meter's reputation.

If you actually care about finding sources of EMF (for whatever purpose), use an actual EMF Meter, not a Hasbro toy. Hasbro themselves said the EMF feature is for novelty purposes only. Hand the PKE to a child and watch as every overhead light or nearby power-socket they walk past makes it light up. That's why they included this feature, because it's slightly more realistic than random.

A very expensive toy marketed towards adults rather then kids. While maybe not meant to be a scientific instrument we have very little to go on until the Meters are received. From the few unboxings it looks like EMF mode is acting like an actual EMF detector by responding to the electronics in the streamers offices. It’s reacting to their computer equipment. So even if the motors are giving off a small amount of EMF we don’t know by how much. The people at Haslab may have already taken that into account.
Don’t forget, the PKE meter does have a mute button. Do I care that it’s meant for novelty purposes? No. I’m going to have fun with this thing. I can tell you right now the meters not going to be turning on any lights in my apartment. I’m just saying I have an issue with “professional” ghost hunters modding them for nefarious purposes.

The PKE DOES have a mute feature. You select a mode with the slide switch under the screen to the left or right, then slide that switch to the middle and you stay in the mode you selected, but the sounds are muted.

From what I recall from the few unboxing videos that are out, the EMF feature is very hit or miss. Like it's been said previously, the EMF feature is a gimmick, a novelty. Hell, I wish It wasn't included so that space could've been used for some other feature or to improve another. If any professional paranormal investigator is bringing this to a gig, it's for their own amusement and not going to be used as a serious tool. If they DO modify the EMF detector into something more powerful, they aren't going to trust that over an unmodified EMF meter that's properly shielded from itself. Using this PKE meter like a serious ghost hunting tool would be like bringing a Bob the Builder tool set to an actual construction site.

Why would "professional" ghost hunters modify a Hasbro toy to scam unsuspecting victims when they could just modify a real EMF meter? They could pick up a cheap one for $20-50, remove the insides, and add a button which makes it beep/flash whenever they feel like claiming "there's a ghost here". That's infinitely easier than backing a Hasbro product for hundreds of dollars and waiting a full year for it to arrive (or paying eBay scalpers pricers), modifying it for your own purposes, only to discover that none of your victims believe it's a real scientific device anyway because it's literally a plastic Ghostbusters toy by Hasbro:lol:
#5001879
I’ve already said why. Do we really need a merry go round argument? My experiences with some Ghost Walking tours had been less then stellar In the past. I’ve had unprofessional experiences with some so called experts.

I can easily see someone in New York use a modified PKE Meter if they’re doing a Ghostbusters themed tour near Halloween. I found out later the guides were using modified EMF detectors to fake paranormal happenings.. It wasn’t enough to shake my belief in the paranormal but it was still bull shit.
