enjoyed this post a lot. We wait nearly 40 years for RGB figures and Mondo put timeware in charge of production, “here’s all your historically accurate wild west and baseball figures that weren’t on the show!”
wouldn't that be better then seeing the Busters in the same baseball uniform? I'm sure they would be Dodgers or Yankees jersey's though. I'd still like to see Winston have the uniform from Night Game.

I think they're set on making figures of the canon looks of characters than a theme. I think the whole sentiment is to make figures of what was in the show vs. decades ago Kenner did their own thing 95% of the time. Stands to reason they will do more of the GBs in some of the other outfits they appeared in the show but I don't know how they can justify it to the bosses. We're getting ahead of ourselves but it's really interesting to speculate on how they will do the releases in 2026 and beyond when we have timed edition sets that if you don't buy now, they won't make it ever again like with Samhain, Boogieman, Ghash, and Sandman. Especially with Mondo's team trying to figure out which ones will sell, getting approval, and how they're going to get the lesser knowns approved. Well, with the Earp gang, they used finger guns and while I think they had guns, they were always holstered so they don't have to go too crazy on being period.

I don’t see the Earp Gang making the cut tbh as the series’ popularity was front loaded.

As much as I keep bigging up Janine’s Day Off and The Deadly Three there’s pretty much 0% chance they’d get picked for figures as they’re not even the headlined ghost in the episode they’re in. And despite it being a top 10 episode for me… maybe top 3… most people overlook it in favour of the S1 eps. That said, I’m amazed Ghash got into the first wave over what. Like, I’m into it but can’t imagine he’ll sell as well as the other three.

Each figure is $100 a pop. I don’t think the market can sustain a massive number of variants. How many Baseball Busters would they sell versus eg. Citizen Ghost Busters?

Janine has her secretary clothes and Busters uniform, so two variants make sense.

I don’t know as a Baseball Winston would sell on his own.

Whereas Egon’s space suit look would sell because he’s a popular figure.

For Peter I don’t know what alternative look there is… a possessed head?

As for Ray…? Nothing springs to mind.

A Ragtime Boos 4-pack would be fun, but… $400 for a very niche product. I just don’t think the market is there.

I’m just curious who here (as a sample) would buy such a set at $200?

I don’t think I could. Two very niche figures. I’d maaaybe go in for Ray rabbit outfit solo.

Yet the Weird Fiction space monster from the opening of the episode. 100% would pay for that.

I guess that’s the problem with having such a long stretch of cartoon to pull from. One fan’s gold is another’s pass.

I could justify buying complete sets if they came with a diorama for display purposes themed on the episodes the sets came from. If they did Night Game with the demonic baseball field would be a selling point to me. Maybe a playset based on the shoe store or old mansion from Look Homeward Ray. That would be kind of fun.

But i) that would be super, prohibitively expensive ii) a firehouse set would make loads more sense as a diorama/playset.

Either the ground-floor exterior of the Firehouse, the office part of the ground floor, or the Containment Unit part of the basement would be the most likely diorama options. I can even see (as disappointing as it would be) that Janine's figure might be supplied with her desk, rather than a separate ghost.

If she does get a ghost, it's probably a toss-up between either getting the Grundle, or getting her Genie (the demonic dog version could be the pack-in ghost like Slimer and the blue ghost from the intro).

Ha, I was just thinking maybe what and Precious. If they did an alternate head of when what reacts to Janine saying only the guys can open the ECU, that's be awesome.

Don't expect them at Toy Fair. On the 16th, the Mondo crew estimated the Winston and Sandman set maybe will be shown at Wondercon (March 28-30) but both Winston and Ray sets by Monsterpalooza (May 30-June 1).

edit: Looks like just the Peter and Egon sets are on display at Toy Fair.

I am very curious on the longevity of this line. After the Busters and Janine, who is left to anchor the line? Could it survive on just the ghosts alone? Will they do variants of the GBs in different costumes? I can't imagine that it is doable in the long run with the $101 price tag. I know Neca's TMNT line is variants galore, but those are also much cheaper.

Is it me, or does Peter's proton stream look a little droopy?

Same, that would be awesome (and would encourage people to keep the boxes instead of recycling them)... But if I had to weigh on practicality, it'd probably be the same box for each Ghostbuster.
