Astomp82 wrote: April 13th, 2025, 11:55 am Anyone gotten any updates recently? I noticed his personal Instagram profile is gone and his facebook and Proton Props pages on both are pretty inactive for months.
His personal Instagram is still active, he posts Stories a few times a month but it's been a while since I've seen anything GB related.

I ordered a set of his resin thrower grips back in Feb. I was hoping that because it wasn't actually a build it would just be something he'd throw into a box and ship out to me. This is maybe a month after he had been posting that they were now available (his website still says "New for 2025"). Also there was a Facebook photo of them from a customer who had ordered some and received them promptly.

So I took a gamble, but made sure to contact my bank about their credit card chargeback period first. They said I still have time, but not to leave it more than 6 months. So I'm patiently waiting to see if they actually arrive.

After a month of hearing nothing I DM'd the Proton Props Instagram account (I don't have Facebook) to try to find out if they were something he still had to manufacture and if there was a leadtime, and then about a week later I sent a message via the contact form on the website to ask the same thing. So far I haven't had a response, and the DM still seems to be unread. Maybe he hasn't logged into his business Instagram page for a while, and maybe his website contact form isn't working or it went to spam. So next up I'll try sending a regular email.

Failing that, I'm not really sure what else can be done apart from contacting my bank and having the charge reversed. I hope it doesn't come to that but I'm left with few options.
I order my grips around the same time as you after being recommended them in a GB FB group. Also received nothing. No response to my inquiries on any platform. Beyond ridiculous.

Eagerly awaiting the Mack’s grips for sure. Was hoping these would suffice in the meantime but, yeah, hopefully my bank will do a chargeback.

I think that's a smart move.

Having to wait for grips is better than still having to wait for grips but also being out your hard earned money.

I think a lot of us have held out hope for awhile. I never thought and don’t think any of it is an out and out scam. But I am losing faith in my order and others ever being fulfilled.

If enough people cancel/refund orders maybe that will send a message to have better communication.

Unfortunately I think its far too late for that, I cant imagine someone having that much money left to refund after so long. Just the amount of people in this group chat you are talking at least 20k worth of orders if not more going on 4 or 5 years of waiting.

Looking back in this thread, you called it ages ago Venkman1984. I genuinely hope people can still get refunds on their cards. No matter the reason for not getting what was ordered, at some point, a line has to be drawn by the consumer for what they're willing tolerate.

But hey, at least Proton Props has time to post thirst pics on his IG. 🤷‍♂️

Where’d you hear this from? Pretty alarming.

I've heard the same. And I will say this recently I noticed David blocked me on instagram and Facebook I believe it was after I mentioned to the person who bought a pack recently that he should get his money back the one who wanted to build with his father dying of cancer. Before that I was able to get ahold of David at will. He always replied to my instagram messages. Probably because im not a customer. I wished David would pull through and deliver but im sure now through speaking with various people close to him it's not going to happen nor is a refund for anyone. Those here waiting your best course is legal action for fraud. And God bless him we should all be so lucky to have a friend like Toby. Toby is so reliable and an asset to the community with a wealth of prop knowledge but im hoping even he now knows there is absolutely nothing left to defend. NO website is down for maintenance for almost a month. David used the money to live and buy things for himself. Not for parts or packs. This is a fact and I've spoken with MANY builders inside the community who are trusted and they've all stated the same as things they hoped he would deliver but he got greedy kept spending the easy money. coming in because frankly he doesn't have to worry about bumping into any of the US folks that he scammed. Ive sat back and watched all of you waiting on here when I know it's not happening. Your money is gone and he will not deliver. Someone had to deliver this message sooner or later. The excuses are done. The covid, the being homeless, the girl leaving him, the deaths in the family, the updating sites, the moving shops, it's all lies. Ive been in law enforcement for 15 years and a member of this community since 08 and this is the worst scam I've ever witnessed. Shame on admin for not blacklisting him. I wish you all the best. If I were you I'd contact your banks and local law enforcement it's the only way you'll see any form of justice and that is a fact. Dave may have started out with the intention to build the packs hammering out a handful but I think like all the fallen before him the easy money just got to him. I'm sorry for all your losses and im most sorry you allowed this to drag on. This entire chat should be a Netflix documentary.

He is blacklisted on GBFans, but that just means he's not allowed to sell on here:

David Rotheram / kernuyckdave / Proton Props / Proton Props UK
Has been banned for taking payments for prop items and then failing to provide them to customers, some of his customers are still waiting to receive their commissioned prop replicas over three years (as of 2024) after they originally paid for them. As time passed, communications and project updates between David and his customers became less frequent, and less informative. Further to these instances, David has caused further frustration to his customers by engaging in an unofficial prize draw for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, offering a prize of a replica Proton Pack, while still having customers who have been waiting years to receive what they've paid for.

I don't have a great deal to say other than that I have defended Dave in the past because I have ordered small items and always received them. I have never been the winner of one of the raffles, but I have entered them. And so I suppose I do have some skin in the game. I'm not a lawyer, but surely there's gotta be some sort of ramifications for not honouring a prize? And not just to the winner but everyone else who entered under false pretences. If the winner of the Frozen Empire has not received the pack, especially given that it was fully built and not something that had needed to be made-to-order then every single person who entered deserves their money back as well.

As far as I know, no. There are a couple Reddit threads about Proton Props too and I can’t remember if it was there, here, or somewhere else that the person that won a pack in a raffle said they never got it.

I'm sorry to hear that, RCoid55. It's a really crummy situation across the board for everyone who has sunk their hard earned money into a pack and have nothing to show for it.

I’m sorry to hear that, it seems like what should have been a really exciting moment has turned into a source of frustration. I hope you receive the pack that was pictured.

A while back there were talks of a group of people here getting together to file a legal case. Honestly at this point being dragged on for so long that's exactly what needs to happen. Everyone on this thread needs to organize and exchange information and you can begin the legal process of getting your money back or seeing some type of justice. Anyone here who still believes you are getting a pack I honestly feel sorry. If these people can't even get a "raffle" packs that was literally already built what hope of getting a pack from scratch are you holding on to? Sometimes you need to point out the elephant in the room. It may not have started out to be a scam but thats EXACTLY what proton props ended up becoming. It really is that simple. I say organize. It's so much money to let someone just walk away with no consequences.
