Discuss the upcoming 4th movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire to be released in March 2024.

I would have liked too see Ray, Winston and Peter interact a little more but they did not purposely give them less dialogue with each other. Frozen Empire had extra characters and points they they needed to hit. Having them in more scenes just to riff would have felt forced. There was enough going on.

People like to criticize references/callbacks as pandering but they tie the world together. Not saying we need everything referenced but what’s in FE makes sense.

The bookstore is Ray’s business that shouldn’t count as a callback. I don’t consider Slimer a callback because he’s a proper ghost character that stayed hanging around the firehouse. Also I personally liked seeing John Rothman. I wouldn’t say it was necessary but it’s funny seeing he still works at the library and presumably had problems with the paranormal over the years.

In general what bothers me is they never went back to catch the library ghost once they were in business but that’s a different discussion.

Concepts from Tim Napper ranging from the new ECU and wands and Compact Thrower to Garraka and the orb as well as some scenes in the movie (including a more colorful attack on the Firehouse).

Back on May 16, 2024, Luke Whitelock posted a montage of photos he took at the various sets. One of them was two clipped articles: one of the original 3 from their commercial in '84 and the New York Post "They're Back!" from 1989.

If anyone was still curious where this was from, it's in the basement of Ray's Occult when Phoebe observes the Mini-Pufts. On the right side of the screen, you'll eventually see a few of them stapled to a board. This is the board these two clippings are attached to. But you only barely see the GB1 clipping with a shot of Peter. So there you go, the streak continues with a GB2 easter egg hitting the cutting room floor, lol, the first being the Ecto-1a license plate in Afterlife.

Over the past few months or so, I've been trying to close the gap on a couple trivia items and a couple character names. Naturally, the Engineer Corps is at the top of that list for me.

Eric Reich got back to me and the day player who portrayed the parabotanist in the Engineer Corps is named Duncan Jebbett.

Alexis Forte just replied back and revealed the parabotanist's name patch is "Glicker" and she chose that as an homage to Danny Glicker (the costume designer on Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the designer for most of Jason Reitman's movies). Forte was Glicker's assistant costume designer for many years and they became very close friends so the name patch was her homage to him. The paramusicologist's name patch is "Moulsdale" after Sam Moulsdale, a graphic designer for Frozen Empire who also really helped out the costume department a lot.

edit: And speaking of Sam Moulsdale, he has some bts photos on his site.

Maybe Ghost corps saw all the proton gadgets in GB 2016,got scared and pivoted.
I didn't like the Proton Glove and Proton Pistol but they should still try different stuff

Fair point! new weapons can be great if they’re well-designed and balanced. And speaking of gear, adding detailed touches like leather gloves to the look could really enhance that classic Ghostbusters vibe.

Maybe they’re was a sequence that used the wrist thrower more prominently and it just got cut.

Yeah new tech is fine, but don’t introduce if it’s not foreshadowing use later in the film.

Ex: Slimeblowers were teased during the “colbalt 58.9” exchange and then used to defeat vigo later.

Or maybe it wasn’t meant to have any impact and was just some extra wacky new gb tech.

Like the tripod traps in the jewelry store—however that little scene served the purpose of humor—I chuckle every time they all stand still after all the glass breaks.

Cool, finally. 8 pm Eastern.

WCat2000 wrote: February 1st, 2026, 5:13 pm I see it’s been doing really well on streaming.
Agreed, also nice to see GB1 and GB2 joined Hulu, too.

hmm, can only think of the frozen Manhattan Adventurers' and the Firemaster clerk getting killed when they shatter, in terms of violence.

edit: ah man, the dickless line at the end was completely removed. But least the end tag was kept in, unlike the Afterlife TV edit.
