For the various Ghostbusters Cartoon series. Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters and more!

Michael is correct! I wish I had something more substantial to share...but what I saw was a VERY brief early animatic, def not final.

Ray was the only one of the OGBs in the stuff I saw. Along with what I assume are the folks who will make up a new team. Firehouse looks movie inspired as well.

Oh...and there is a puppy. A very unusual puppy...with red eyes.

Aren't we jumping to conclusions? A terror dog puppy would be awesome but an unusual puppy with red eyes could even mean that Clifford got into the dooby snacks again. Lol.

Even if it was unrealistic, a small part of me was hoping for Halloween. But I figured it would be 2027. At least now we have our finish line. I think the most frustrating part was knowing that work was being done, but there was no time frame in which we would see anything.

Hopefully, the Annecy festival will shine some light on the new team. It appears that Dan and Ernie returning are likely a given. If Bill appears or doesn't, I'm cool with it. A terror dog puppy is funny, but I do hope it's just something they encounter for an episode and it's not the mascot of this series.

If it follows the new movies it seems that Grogu inspired other franchises to use the whole lets turn a monster into a cute baby gimmick and the puppy will most likely be a recurring character if that's the case. Unless it absorbs other ghosts and becomes a full blown adult the kids have to bust.

If you've seen the Mandalorian and Grogu trailer it looks like they're trying the whole alien baby thing again with the Rodian. Lol.

Back to Ghostbusters, They will probably milk the mini puft's every chance they get. ( I like the Mini Pufts BTW.) Maybe we'll finally get the answer of what happens if you eat one!

Yeah, the dog becoming a pet was the first thing that crossed my mind. I don't think it would ruin the series or anything. But after two films with the Mini Pufts, I think I'd rather see them give the cute mascot a break for a time. But I have to keep in mind that this (like RGB) is still aimed at kids, even if it's meant to be "movie canon."

I don’t mind a Terror Puppy I just don’t know how it’d work since they’re Gozer’s minions. That and the Terror dogs were never actually cute.

Stay Puft was always very cute. The Mini Pufts were a no-brainer even if they were inspired by other baby characters. Maybe I’m in the minority but I think the Mini Pufts should remain part the movies/shows going forward...but not in this because all indications point to taking place before Afterlife.

Imo they’re part of the gang now like Slimer. Not saying they need a big part, just show up and be silly although the End Credits implied something more. Either way I think they are their own character now.

I'm perfectly fine with Terror Pupper as long as it isn't written like Uni in Dungeons & Dragons: Frequently an annoyance that gets the core characters into trouble all the time.

1) Grogu was never a monster. 2) Kids shows have had animal mascots decades ago, and some even had cute monstrous ones: Attack of the Killer Tomatos, The Real Ghostbusters, Little Shop (of Horrors).

I think the greater share of their inspiration was always from the gremlins and the evil Mogwai. :)

Does remind me of two things. Even Extreme Ghostbusters toyed with having a 2nd mascot on the show, a pet goblin named Gnat. Don't recall if there was ever any concept art. And more recently, this pup could be a similar situation to the anime Dan Da Dan where a urban legend yokai named Turbo Granny gets trapped in a beckoning cat figurine without her powers and is stuck as a frenemy of the main cast. In the case of this series, speculation hat on, maybe the big bad in the series premiere is defeated and maybe through some course of events, doesn't/can't be trapped but ends up de-powered and stuck in a puppy toy. Like idk, maybe these younger busters are "Experimental Equipment Technicians" like Rookie was in TVG and one of the new pieces of equipment is used and it overloads near the entity. Its corporeal body is destroyed along with much of its power and it has to take over the nearest thing and recuperate - a puppy doll. And they keep in close just in case and he ends up helping a little on occasion with intel, sort of their own Frank the Pug.

I like off the wall anime but Dan Da Dann was off the rails a bit. Maybe one day we'll get a new Yu Yu Hakusho series.

Well, in the past few years, we've gotten a new Trigun anime and a new Ghost in the Shell is coming up. Anything's possible I guess.

It’s likely before Afterlife. The Mini Pufts would not make sense. I highly doubt they would make Gozer a threat in this cartoon since Afterlife is about her return.

All I can think of for a Terror Puppy is Gozer sent 3 dogs in the first movie for some reason and one was in the form of a puppy or maybe she just abandoned it because it was misbehaving. Vinz and Zuul could have had a puppy that was left behind. Could be one of the things that makes Egon suspect the end of the world.

I don’t know. I’m thinking purely off the top of my head.

There isn't anything that says they can't do both. If it's set in the 90's Stay Puft still exists so Mini Pufts would be a possibility even if the new team isn't centered around Phoebe and Podcast. The 2009 video game had those marshmallow minis that spawned from stay puft.

No they defeated Stay Puft. The Mini Pufts were created as Gozer was preparing to return and Ray took them back to NY.

The game is not in continuity...plus those marshmallow creatures needed Stay Puft to spawn from but he’s not here and Gozer doesn’t come back til 2021.

Do you know what the overall art style looked like? I'm aware it might have Spider-Verse esque lineage given Sony Animation's involvement, even with Flying Bark's involvement. The latter studio is a little aight with how they handled Tales from 85's art style, but I wonder if the studio was in better hands here given how SPA wouldn't be Duffer Brothers level-idiocy. Another thing I'm curious about is what the tone and humor is like. If said tone/humor is among the lines of RGB's 1st ABC season and syndicated episodes, we should be fine.

Rookie99 wrote: May 19th, 2026, 7:04 pm Could be like a weak ghost possessing a bag of marshmallows and that causes the mallow to take the form of a Mini Puft.
It made sense with Gozer, but you'd likely get very different results if a regular old ghost infected the marshmallows... Like maybe a mutated marshmallow with spider-like legs and lots o' teeth.

I'm with WCat2000, it doesn't logically make sense to have the Mini-Pufts in a prequel series when Gozer isn't present. I greatly enjoyed them, but they don't need to feature.

As for the Terror Pupper, maybe the Ghostbusters find it after discovering a dimensional breach?

It may not make sense but they'll find a way to use the mini's. Even if the video game isn't canon there's still Ghosts left over that were loyal to Gozar that could deploy her minions. Would it surprise anyone if Gozar or stay puft end up being the big bad in the long run? Depending on how many episodes we get per season they could even re introduce Real Ghostbuster villains such as Sam Hain or the Grundel, there's a lot of villains to choose from. I'd love to see some historical figures be used.

If they advertise we'll probably get a lot of Mini Puft merch, especially if they do another cereal run.

I don't know what the final style of the show will be given what I saw was VERY EARLY animatics, mostly not in full color. But to that end, I would say the character design did seem to be in the same area code as Spider-Verse. I dug what I saw.

Put it to you like this...as soon as I saw Ray, I KNEW it was supposed to be Ray.

You'd think they'd stop going to that well, but how many times have we speculated no they can't possibly do Gozer again., and they do Gozer again? Say that five times fast!

While there would a level of irony to another story about the Ghostbusters dealing with Gozer in the 90s, Afterlife was a satisfying swan song. Plus, in-universe they kinda buttoned up any chance of the threat being Gozer since after 1984, 2021 is the next time it would be feasible for it to cross over to Earth.
