Not trying to be rude at all or anything but...why did you replace the V hook with something worse?

Ok so i spent the night watching upgrade videos for the 84 pack and i have questions....What Alice frame do you guys recomend because i bought the one off Amazon and the straps on that suck. I also plan on getting the 84 Deluxe Upgrade kid from tools and tallent with the better hose, and V Hook... and maybe later on i wana go into the GB Star stuff...it looks complex but not as complex as i thought it would be.

I never did this stuff with the Spengler Pack because, well i bought it after the campaign when big bad toystore had a few in stock and paid more for it and i just feel like thats best i leave stock with the wand. Outside of a alice frame and a dent on the iron arm from a fall...Its un altered.

This one i kinda wana make my own. I just ordered Moobys stickers for them too, not only the deluxe set but the one for the cyclotron and red defusers.

I really wana make this one my own custom pack and im debating adding some caution striping to it as well.

In your opinion, worse. It works for me, I have access to these easily. I like my wand to stay put, and Adam Savage has one on his pack.ImageI use this more right now...Image

Just got the FedEx update that my pack will be here this coming Thursday!! Super excited, can't wait to completely tear it to shreds like I did the Spengler.

I wish some of y'all who are (understandably) timid about modding were closer. I'd love to help you out. It's really not that scary, and once you get going it's hard to stop fixing stuff. ;)

For really easy (and reversible!!) mods, just saw this video from Chris Bosh Props; the lens covers and fake welded bases for the filler tube and beam line are slick!!

The thing is with modding, these are 300 dollars a pop if it goes south and they are sold out at the moment with no word if and when they will be back in stock. One hopes and assumes, but im not wealthy where i can by 20 of them in bulk and if i screw up one i got 19 more. (i would buy that many if i were rich just so i could mod and customize and all of that) The idea of cutting and drilling into it, frankly scares the hell out of me. Ive seen videos of people cutting into the pack, ripping out the circuits, all sorts of crazy stuff. Even just swapping out the V-Hook makes me anxious. From the videos i saw, you have to drill into the pack, its a tight fit to get the new bolts secure, some even use lock tight, its like...anxiety just thinking if i screw that up.

I did order some high end stickers from Moobys Sign Company for not only the pack and wand, but the internal cyclotron and defusers as that tripple LED light on the videos just looks bad...like what the hell is up with that? But thats applying a set of stickers. Worse case if i screw that up i can default to the stock ones as backup.

The GB Star stuff looks crazy. I was shocked its not soldering stuff, its mostly clip into a circuit bord, but still, you got to screw the stuff in, cut posts, cable management, power management, wifi boards, install new speakers, get the right brackets for those speakers, snip and clip this...cut the battery box off here, yikes.

In a way its like building legos, (I love doing that and it calms my OCD a ton) but in another way its way more complex. I never had to screw in or cut a lego piece.

And some of the stuff is so complex, it reminds of buiding a computer. I always wanted to do that, but with the cost of components, and not being sure what im doing...

Maybe one day ill brave enough to mod beyond stickers and an alice pack. But baby steps for me with this stuff.

First of all, it’s YOUR pack. You don’t have to do a damn thing to it if you don’t want. Don’t feel pressured. It’s a toy meant to have fun with. I had to learn to let go with trying to make these Hasbro things screen accurate.

It’ll NEVER be 100% screen accurate, ever. But on the other hand, they used freaking proton packs made out of foam for a lot of shots so who cares? This pack looks amazingly accurate to absolutely everyone.

The Haslab pack was used in the last movie, so you never know - it might be accurate for the next movie.

About the V hook- one think you can do is open the pack up, and then the V hook around. It might take some tweaking, but not too much.

Yeah i know it will never be 100% totally screen accurate. Im cool with that. As someone with OCD i had to teach myself "Close enough is good enough". Im debating on adding caution strips to my pack as i love that look, and maybe buy a tri-bumper off Etsy and paint that a metalic red. Idk yet.

Got my Proton Pack in the mail yesterday, put in the Batteries today and hooked up the 1984 wand. I had a ball playing with this, cannot wait to attach it to the Alice Pack frame and take some pictures of it. I am also going planning on seeing what upgrades fellow fans are offering, since I already got a real brass banjo set for the wand last year.

If it was through Hasbro, should be billed right before it was shipped but if you pre-ordered through a different outlet-more likely they may have charged as soon as you pre-ordered.

Ok. Got mine and forgive the placement for it (and the mess) at the moment but its sitting in front of the Spengler pack in my closet, (I really need more space and its the only place for both of them where I'm not tripping over them. First impressions is...its more plastic looking then id like but not a deal breaker. I haven't powered it on yet, i cant find the pack of D Cell batteries i thought i had, but ill wait until after i apply the MoobySign Sticker pack i got for it.

The hose is better, but not by much. I definitely have to get a Tools and Talent Hose for it. It also needs a proper stand. The Amazon Guitar stand i have for it doesn't do it no justice and has issues with where the hose connects to the pack. The wand connects no problem but wobbles on the v hook more then i would like....and the stickers for it i diden't even bother attempting to put on the pack because they are so cheep and thin, i feel it be insulting the pack to put them on it. They are that bad. Hasbro is skimping out on the cheepest part of the pack and it shows.

The whole thing feels lighter too...which makes sense i diden't put in batteries into it yet, I havent installed an ALICE frame to it and it doesn't have the rumble motor the Spengler pack has.

Overall this does feel like a watered down version of the Spengler Pack, but because thats what it is. Your not getting the extra perks like the stand and the slime or the figures. Your not getting the extra detail and weathering of a pack thats meant to look like its been used and sitting in a barn somewhere for 35 years and its meant to look brand new like it was just built in 1984 without years worth of modifications later on. So in that aspect it should feel like a basic model 1.0 from 1984. So thats a good thing.

They did cheep out not including the stand. I can deal without the rumble pack, the mini puffs or slime dripping off it, but the lack of the stand to me is just criminal and the biggest let down, even though i knew we werent going to get one.

Once i find batteries and install the higher end stickers when those arrive within a week or two ill do an update, but overall im glad i own it, but owning the spengler pack, in comparison im not blown away by it. This this screams modifications and upgrades and i plan on doing them over time.

My recommendations...find a decent stand somewhere online (I think you can 3D Print the stand that comes with the Spengler pack but i dont own a 3D Printer) buy the higher end sticker pack, upgrade the hose and order an Alice frame and clamps for it.

Its a good starting point, but i felt even with paying more 3rd party from Big Bad ToyStore when they had the spengler packs on sale, i got more value for my money but i still recommend getting it for any Ghostbusters Fan.

Just make sure you have a hasbro Wand and plan on spending more later on to upgrade it!

Received mine yesterday, as expected from the tracking.

Pretty happy with it! Looks lovely and clean, fresh off the bench and ready to go. Stickers are a bit cheap-looking but they do the job. Might upgrade at some point. 84 wand attaches perfectly - although it looks a bit odd that the wand has some light weathering but the pack doesn't have any at all. I suppose the argument is the wand gets handled all the time (matron!) but the pack largely doesn't, aside from taking on and off.

If you are feeling adventurous, most of the weathering on the wand comes off easily with alcohol. Just be careful not to go over painted areas that you DON’T want to remove.

Have to stay in the packs lane . . Keep it under a small fortune. If you change and spend to much, you'd be better off with macks factory. Change just the worst eyesores, or easy and cheap parts. I think I'll do frame, labels and elbows, which ghostlab42 has 4mm elbows on eBay that look really good
