There was the threat of a frozen empire, ruled over by Garraka.
It was never a promised we'd ever actually see one.
Given the movies name, and some of the poster material showing the gb's around ecto walking into a frozen city, it was basically expected. The trailers and marketing were very deceptive, they gave the impression of something much grander in scale than what the final movie had.
Yeah 100% agree on this! compare it to Afterlifes trailers and marketing and its almost shocking how much is "just not there" plus how they straight up show the final battle..

At the 3:56 mark, Damian Muziani (who portrayed the Taxi Cab Driver who gets his cap blown off) says he had a line.

Remy Germinario and Michael Kushner, who portrayed Tourist Couple Looking at Map, were cut from the movie despite being in the end credits. Based on what they said, their bts photos - it sounds like they were among the people running for their life on Eldridge in Chinatown when the Death Chill breaks out.

I hope that their scene was cut because of pacing, rather than the other likely reason... :sigh:

Yeah, pacing. Back during 2nd unit, I remember they spent a few days filming that Eldridge scene of people fleeing and being blown off their feet. I think it feeds into the critique that we didn't see enough chaos but on the other hand but it was a bit different than GB1 and 2. This one, there had to be a montage of both Garraka is closing on the Firehouse passing Coney and Chinatown etc. and later bringing the ghosts out of the unit/showing the city is frozen so there was probably a lot of back and forth on how much time to spend on both vs. getting to the final fight and having that through-line.

Andrew Goddard, who portrays the reporter who interviews Nadeem, had lines.

One of the photos posted by Kalisha Amaris Johnson is a video bay, the feed shows civilians holding up the Ghostbusters sign either for someone to take a photo or one of the news cameramen. Not sure if that's part of a scene or just some goofing around between takes.

1:15 mark: Showed some dailies of Ruth and the guy being slimed with the Slime Blower.

2:18 mark: Also, no clue if this is a deleted scene or just bts but evidentially donkeys were kept in one of the PRC enclosures. The man taking them out of the enclosure has a GB Engineer Corps suit on and we see Phoebe and Lucky high fiving. I recall Lucky posted an instagram story with the 2 donkeys elsewhere. Forgot to check if these two donkeys show up in the opening flashback or not. Unless the Corps were testing what happens when a ghost possesses an animal?

Andy Hornby of the Portsmouth Ghostbusters did an interview with Alex Vlcek and Roxy Ley from the SFX team.
-45 minutes talks about deleted scenes
--the Paul Rudd and Bill Murray scene, there was talking of making real icicles to the point 2 freezers were purchased to keep the icicle mod inside but it wasn't used
-The Mayor was going to be portrayed by Chris Rock. He was a happy-go-lucky mayor who was pro-Ghostbusters
-A scene with melting toys
-When the Mini-pufts jump against the window, their insides would squeeze out so they used shaving foam. One hit by a hammer.
-1:09:27: There was a part where a ghost was trying to punch out of the ECU, was supposed to see the wall where the ECU is collapsing.

On one of my recent rewatches of the movie, during the bit where Wartzki is explaining the Manhattan Adventurers Society, he has a sentence that my brain will not stop remembering as "real medieval lutefisk kinda stuff." I know the word is not "lutefisk," which doesn't necessarily make sense in that context, and I recall VUDU's subtitles transcribing it differently. In any case, whatever the word is in the finished movie, I noticed it was dubbed over, as Oswalt's lips do not match on that specific word.

"real colonial lootfest kinda stuff..."

The dialogue definitely sounds different when Patton reaches the "lootfest" point, leaves me thinking that either it's from a different take in the same sequence, or was re-recorded at a later point. I think he does actually say "colonial lootfest" in the footage, but the delivery didn't quite work originally.

I presumed lootfest was a MMORPG gaming term or maybe D&D one which I know the latter Patton is an aficionado of that he ad libbed into dialogue and Kenan decided to keep it for whatever the original line was.

Of the deleted scenes we have available:

Ghost-chopper is a keeper and I’d probably slot it back into the movie.

Slime bath works well but it’s an awkward cut.

The rest should stay deleted , but the Venkman - Gary exchange in front of the containment unit was funnier in the trailer edit and just seemed like ad-libbing which is a shame, enjoyed the “I am a doctor line” as well. Can easily see why it was cut.

I get that Ghost-chopper, News Report, and Rooftop Consolation where cut for the sake of pacing and sort of going off Ivan Reitman's theory of not letting a movie get into a lurch and making sure if keeps moving towards the final act ... but I would put Rooftop Consolation back in. It and Headlines implies Trevor had this whole arc of what's his role on the team, feeling eclipsed by the talents of Phoebe, Callie, and Gary. Rooftop Consolation gives more context to his "I'm an adult, I'm 18" bits, wanting to drive, and his joy at getting to drive Ecto-1 at the end.

It was a relief to see that where Claire Titelman's News Correspondent character was in the movie won't go down as an unsolved mystery. She's in the News Report deleted scene and her last name is a super obvious nod to a classic 70s comedy with links to the Ghostbusters franchise.

It was a nice surprise Ghost-chopper provides an extended origin for the Orb.

All those scenes were great. What a shame. :whatever:

I would have found a way to keep the Venkman one in, that was absolute gold. They used that still countlessly in the marketing, you should have left it in somehow, even if its brief.

Ghost Chopper feels like it would have helped the movie a great deal. Janines line about “moving in NY” was great.

The crew of YHS Podcast discuss the reaction shot they filmed for the Sewer Dragon sequence that was cut, which is a bit more proof the shots from the Canary Wharf filming were originally intended for the opening of the film, but were recycled for the scenes of Garraka laying siege to New York:

In front of Fulton County Government Center at 100 Peachtree St. SW.

Hadn't heard the Canary Wharf one was recycled. Where'd you hear that or is it personal theory?

Interesting they filmed a lot of different things during reshoots on location in Atlanta. This, Nadeem outside Ray's Occult, Phoebe and Melody talking before they broke into the PRC and on sets like Ray and Winston suiting up.

Mostly me connecting the dots. :) Last June you spotted someone on Reddit talking about a CGI dragon as part of the filming at KPMG at Canary Wharf:
mrmichaelt wrote: June 2nd, 2023, 2:32 am EDIT: Noticed in that reddit, someone claimed to work next to KPMG and claims a crew member told them the scene is for a CGI dragon. lol.

Also found this tweet with 2 more pics: just newsracks, a taxi, and a U.S. mail bin.

And the caption on this YouTube short from the filming also mentions it:

When I saw this shot just after the Contaiment Unit has been breached by Garrakka, I immediately recognised the exterior of KPMG:

And the following shot even shows the building that's most commonly referred to as "Canary Wharf", although its official designation is 1 Canada Square:

I believe, like the YHS cameo reaction shot, the Canary Wharf footage was originally intended for the Sewer Dragon chase, but was recycled for later in the film when Gil and Jason decided not to use any of the civilian reaction shots.

Another thing I noticed were the exteriors of the buildings at 100 Peachtree and 1 Canada Square have similar architecture with the columns in particular which also conveys it was for the same cutaway scene. Plus, I recall one of Heiko's storyboards entailed Phoebe chopping the roof of the taxi instead of just the roof ad so you see the people inside. It does feel like they parsed it down to just the 2 cops.
