Hey all! I've been a big time Ghostbusters fan for ages. However, I always wondered what Elmer Bernstein's original music would be like in Ghostbusters 2. I think most of us can agree that the first and second movie have different tones, largely based on the different composers.

So, I took it upon myself to make a fan-edit of Ghostbusters 2 with Elmer Bernstein's score integrated into the film. I'm no editing pro or sound mixer, I just did this as a fun experiment. I'll post the link below to where you can find it!

This is super cool to see & it’s awesome u did this, & did it out of nothing but love. We should all applaud that.

I have to be honest & I apologize if this comes off too critical but…

It doesn’t really work. U did a great job editing it together. But some of the choices don’t improve the film. You’ll note the original ’84 film didn’t use the heroic funk theme Elmer wrote(thank God. Doesn’t fit at all & dates the movie).

The 1st scene with Dana works pretty well. But the others? Less so

My recommendation? A mixture of both scores or using other scores from other movies & not just Elmer’s 1984 score.

The great Afterlife score might work? Or Jerry Goldsmith’s The Mummy score? (The imothep theme is super creepy & might work great for Vigo).

The 1 part of Edelman’s score that works especially well is the heroic fanfare. During the Scoleri Bros bust & the clip u showed? The original version works better. Same with the Statue of Liberty reveal.

This was cool to see though. It’s something I’ve often wondered about & I’m glad a fan took the time & effort to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

If u ever update it or change anything it’d be cool to see that as well.
